Hello

I know this is not a broad band question, but is anyone using a neotel PRI at work, and how does it compare to Telkom's. Whats the quality like and the service if any?

cheers

Neotel PRI is one of their services over fibre, along with other business services, and can be either a conventional PRI or SIP (which works over IP/Ethernet) if your PBX supports it. Telkom's PRI is normally a copper wire, and only does voice. In all other respects, it's pretty much the same, with normal phone numbers etc. Can't comment on service etc, but performance / faults must be better on fibre than copper. Don't confuse either with anything wireless, which is what you see most about Neotel on this site.

Telkom's PRI can be either copper or fibre - depends on customer requirements.

NeoTel brings in the PRI via Fiber and/or Microwave or a combination thereof for redundancy. With the exception of a hickup here and there with the initial setup or framing (which can be expected - even with Telkom), no issues nor problems at all.

I've installed and terminated one at my previous work (came in via Microwave) on a Asterisk box, and had no issues what so ever, with 300 DDIs and all. Would -highly- recommend NeoTel's Enterprise solutions to anyone. Their consumer offering is not at all any representation of their enterprise offerings what so ever.

+1 to Neotel for a PRI.... It's a good amount cheaper than Telkom too when call costs are taken into consideration.
