Neotel Question

I assume its the Wimax/CDMA

Day or three from apply to call/mail

i'm looking for an Uncapped Neotel option. But one you can carry around if need be (doesn't need to be like a 3G USB modem), just something i can pop in a bag to carry around.

If it's fixed antenna to the roof, that is obviously not going to work.

Are you going to move around (where are you located?) randomly, or limited to two (home / work) locations? The wider you make this (movement), the narrower your options, and they are approaching anything between nil and zero! Neotel's uncapped option are by large fixed installations. Even if you can get two modems, you can swop the SIM cards, but that's also a schlepp, if you have to get up on the roof every time. Unless you're within spitting distance of the tower, you may get lucky. Just too many if's....

The 4MB Neobroadband or whatever its called...

Still no email, no phone call...

You must be sorted out by now?

Mine went from web enquiry to installed the very next day!! Try that with ADSL :)

Wimax is a great service (so far, one week in) - couldn't be happier....

Nope. Never received a call.

Ended up going with 2 x 10GB Afrihost Mobile Sims.

what package did you get?? been thinking of getting Wimax for sometime.

I went for the 2Mbps Uncapped package. They havn't billed me yet as they give you the first month off. But expecting to pay R750 per month with the R 500 installation added to the first month's debit.

I am streaming Netflix at a good SD rate with no buffering.

Was on Telkom Mobile LTE but line not consistent enought and too much rebooting. Not to mention my 25GB would be finished half way through the month.

I've only had a week and a half with Neotel Wimax so it's early days, but I am VERY impressed that they had me installed and connected within 2 days and it just works.

Line of Sight of tower is required, but if you pass that there's no looking back....

I'm pretty happy with my 4MB WiMax install. The only thing that still irks me is that I was told the FUP was at 750Gb. I saw it in an ad, the Neotel sales guy told me this, and the reseller told me this. Next thing I know I hit 440Gb and I am throttled to 2Mb. Reseller says that the FUP must have changed at some point ie. in the 10 days I ordered and it was installed. Neotel techies claim it was always 440Gb. If anyone knows who I can speak to at Neotel it would be awesome as they seem to be ignoring my emails...

Other than that is is a fantastic service. I was really getting tired of having Telkom techies at my house every week when I reported a fault and constantly having my line drop when it was raining ! The second my Wimax installation was complete I ripped out the telephone line and DSL modem and threw it in a box in the cupboard. Now all I have going is my Mikrotik router quietly humming away.

Yup also not looking back after getting the Neotel installed. How did you check how much data you've used?

On the 30th July they sent me this on signing up:

Fair Usage Policy Below.
*
1Mbps*- 121GB
2Mbps*- 276GB
4Mbps*- 536GB
6Mbps*- 812GB

In order to activate the Fair Usage Policy the above Gigabytes must be reached within the first two weeks of the month

I'm assuming you've got the NeoBroadband Wireless 2Mbps (R749/m) and not the NeoBroadband WiMax 2Mbps (R1699exclVAT/m) -- what's the minimum contract period on your service? I see 12 months for WiMax but can't seem to find info on the Wireless.

What was the prices of those packages. I'm asking because I asked them last week and the 2meg is not in line with your 2 meg package's price.

I think it was something like R1 250 and I got put off immediately. The person might have sent me an outdated document though

They have funny terminology but mine is the Neotel Wireless which I understand to mean Wimax for home. The higher prices wimax looks to be for business.

My 2mbps is R750 per month uncapped (with the pretty fair FUP above).

Packages, with a R500 installation fee billed with your first month:

Pricing:

*1 Mbps -*R499
*2 Mbps -*R749
*4 Mbps - R999
*6 Mbps - R1499
