You don't need 25K people working for you to service a client base. That's old school thinking and business model.
Outsourcing....from customer care to installations...A clever company always starts there. Low overheads.
As an entrepreneur you're taught never to be the jack of all trades. Always HIRE/outsource to "aquire" the skill sets you don't have or can't afford/don't need on a long term basis.
Well, if they follow international norms, they could outsource to private companies. The companies will get installation kickbacks in relation to the number of installations they do in a specified period. I am not too worried about a small core staff in the beginning.
From a Business Point of view, outsourcing would make sense... unless government has imposed Job creation prior to awarding the bid... I would imagine they would of looked at that possibility as a criteria... But I could be wrong…..
Yep, SA is just crawling with out of work qualified telecoms engineers
They are going to have to ramp up staff any day now or they will be up the creek when they begin offering services.
They are also rolling out tech that hasn't been used here before, so I'll be interested to see how they handle the training.
Whether its a great success or a dismal failure - its going to make interesting watching.
