Back in the day, we did this with Sentech. We rented a bus, and drove to every single base station they had.

Put our modems right next to the thing, and did performance tests.

Anyone up for this again ?

Count me in if the date is suitable. Beers are on MyBB :-)

Rodent all you are going to do is confirm whats on the forums. If you do it as in a before and after, like when Neotel have plonked up more BTS's for us then I would say it's constructive otherwise rpm is sponsoring a pissup for nothing...;)

Not that I mind:D

Did my on little "wardrive" today. Drove around sandton with my neoflex router and laptop doing lots of speedtests on www.speedtest.net. I drove quite close to megawatt tower and my speed did not improve at all (my ping improved marginally to about 130ms). The best dload speed i got was 160KB/s and the best upload speed was about 90KB/s. I drove down bowling. then drove down kelvin. then drove down by the wendywood shopping centre which according to the coverage map has excellent coverage. So it def does appear to be some sort of tower congestion issue.
