Neotel's bold new broadband strategy

Will we still be able to use our current NeoFlex modems? or will we require to get new ones..
 
Bold plans. But given their track record I would not get my hopes up.

They are competing with iburst at best... :D
 
A step in the right direction: this is what we asked for several years ago (data only contracts).

Unfortunately Neotel have burnt most of their potential customers so they will have to go out of their way to get them back. This isn't going out of their way. See what CellC did for out of your way.

Now if only they would actually start offering a fixed-line service.
 
you'd think when they were doing research into the initial products they wanted to roll out in the south african market, that they'd go "mmmm, data dropping when receiving a voice call? not good"
 
Neotel, Your effectively selling a new cellphone that's bigger and without the functionality of a cellphone, your network speeds are that of and weaker than some 3G offerings, your not suppose to offer us god damn wi-max and wi-fi and wire less junk!! you should be offering us FIXED-LINE competitive offerings against telkscum.
 
Good for them. But doesnt help if their Client Service is still up to nothing. Still waiting to get my deposit back months after i cancelled.
 
The campaign just isn't as cool as CellC... Neotel should have taken a good look at CellC's campaign... the Indian chap in the suit already puts me off! Something sinister about that smile...

Somehow makes me think of this bunch with their homemade Peugeot...

Imagine what the Telecoms industry would have looked like if Neotel actually implemented a fixed-line alternative when they first started... the SA scene would have been totally different!

I was hoping for some magic and numbers that were too good to refuse, but none of that just an over-sized cellphone...
 
I think regular readers/contributors know why Neotel hasn't implemented fixed line. It's called local loop unbundling LLU for short.

Instead of whining, the population ought to be cautiously optimistic, ready to welcome or encourage competition into the market place.

So you had (or maybe just read) about poor service in the past? So, companies & people can't improve?

Neotel is set to relaunch their commercial offerings in the consumer space, not least because the previous strategy didn't work well for them. I for one welcome any competition - I think many others on My BB should too.

Criticise after they fail, not before they've even started.
 
Maybe Neotel should take a closer look at the wireless offerings already available that allow both voice and data at the same time, e.g. Screamer.
Family of mine live in a complex in Linksfield - no telkom cables and telkom unwilling to do anything about that. Neotel wasn't an option. All the residents opted for Screamer and nearly 2 years down the line they only have compliments for the service provided....
 
@Cost C... calm down, we just poking a little fun... nothing like a laugh on a Monday morning... remember tomorrows Friday... Wednesday is Sunday and Thursday is Monday again! Yes it's all screwed up by one public holiday! Hope you all going to vote!

Jawellnofine.. or whatever. I have this vision of Neotel senior management as closet My BB readers to see how the market is reacting to their planned initiatives. I think companies can be like people, they respond well to positive feedback and don't do so well with negative criticism (or even having the piss taken).

I like Neotel, like I like Cell C. Both are fighters that have introduced new products, services and prices into the SA market. I cannot fathom why anyone would want to use Telkom other than as an ADSL link...
