Neotel's books concern auditors

Will Neotel be able to continue? I hope not.

They deserve everything they get. Their "**** the consumer, we just care about big business" attitude finally pays off. Time for Telkom's eviler, oranger twin to die.

Maybe someone who gives a toss can take over in their place.

They were a gap filler... a way to keep the masses quiet about the monopoly, while the monopoly continues. Telkom are coming back into the spotlight soon.

Actually a pity that SA's much anticipated SNO is now in such precarious spot. If only: They kept their promises, cared about the consumer (who always ends up paying the final bill), provided a decent service (including a decent call center) and ... kept their promises. Alas, for the first and last they probably needed a different origin - their eastern heritage is hardly known for being sincere, honest or straight.

So maybe it's best they hand the keys to someone capable of turning the business into what it should've been (what about the departing Telkom CEO)?

Seems Neotel had this coming. With their very poor customer service on a consumer level I feel they have shot themselves in the foot. Everyday there are more and more complaints about bad coverage, bad signal and congestion yet they continue to sell packages knowing that their infrastructure cannot cope. When they first came out I enjoyed their service... now I am baffled by the way they treat the consumer. I have even gone as far as creating a Neotel Complaints Profile for them outlining and documenting my service from them. If you want to talk to a manager then it is best you walk into their Woodmead branch as the call centre is known to send you in circles

Looks like they need someone, who really knows how to run competitive residential fixed line services...
Or just shut down.

They could sell their 56% share and hopefully we will get some better company in charge. They gross misunderstood our market, we dont have a billion possible clients here they need to deal with smaller market.

What fixed lines? LLU needs to happen fist. At least to compete with ADSL.

Was just about to respond with what Jagtiger said. Nothing stopped anyone from rolling out their own cable infrastructure. Except the risk and costs, of course.

I thought you needed Icasa to approve that??

They have it. They are running fiber to business parks all over the place. Or where.
Wait, they provided the infrastructure for the data communication of the toll gates... :D two birds with one stone!

They should have devoted every cent of their capital to getting LLU to happen. Whatever it might have taken (Tata is surely no stranger to graft) that should have been their mission. They might as well now go into hibernation until LLU is finished. We don't need them, or anyone else in the fixed-line space, until then.
