Eskom gets a kick in the teeth

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has decided it will only allow Eskom to recover billions of rand in outstanding 2019/2020 revenue from its 2024/2025 financial year.

Eskom is owed R3.461 billion in revenue from that year that it is permitted to collect in future tariff hikes as part of its Regulatory Clearing Account (RCA) tariff application.
 
I don’t know if I’ve watched “Enron, the smartest guys in the room” too many times. But to me it seems everytime we get to these tariff hike meetings the rate of loadshedding increases. And as soon as they get money, all of a sudden…stage 2 for everybody !!
 
Yeah ok fearmongers can come in now. I will believe it all.
Haha, the only thing replacing him is corruption.
And I cannot imagine the ramp up time needed for new CEO to be of any use.

So Eskom is actually allowed to recover old debt through increase of tariffs?
As in, you supply electricity to non payers and are allowed to charge more to payers in later years???

It’s also undeniable that under his tenure South Africa had the worst loadshedding in history. So… there’s that.

Sure, we however don't know what sort of maintenance was done before and during his tenure. He could simply have inherited an absolute mess. Entirely possible given the questionable ethics of the management that came before him. He could also have simply screwed up. We just don't know.
 
So I wonder if he is also going to write a book.
