Like him or not, it's undeniable that under
his tenure we've seen the worst loadshedding/blackouts ever.

Someone might come around and do worse but if blackouts are the measurement he's done the worst. Don't know anything else about him

I'm no Cyril fan but he doesn't run Eskom just like he doesn't run Telkom or the Sabc or SAA for that matter.

If the only measurement you're using is a shallow look at number of days of loadshedding then I agree he's done the worst by far. Weirdly enough though the trend over the last few years has been that every CEO every year has been the worst for loadshedding ever, with each new year topping the last. More than any particular CEO that trend should be worrying you because it potentially speaks to a problem beyond any single CEO. One that looks to be exponential.

But go ahead and myopically blame one man without knowing what's actually happening behind the scenes. I prefer to reserve judgement when I don't have those facts.

Cyril is a perfectly average president. Not the worst not the best. Unfortunately we probably have a pool of some of the worst uneducated, incompetent corrupt individuals just waiting to get their hands on the job.

So meh is okay for now, it will get worse not better.

You misunderstood me. I understand there is more to it. But if loadshedding is the measurement he's the worst. I don't have any knowledge of the inner workings nor do I have any opinions on De Ruyter.

Some people appear to praise him for things they couldn't possibly understand the inner workings or scope of, like internal corrupt or maintenance. I can only praise him for things I can understand like when the lights go out or not. When my cold rooms switch off when my products go bad when my supply chain suffers when I retrench my workers, when I have to stop doing business because the capital expense to account for loadshedding is too great.

That's my experience and in my experience De Ruyter killed my business and left many many people unemployed. Not just in my business but all over the country. A small business can withstand only so many knocks

It's a terrible thing that's happened to your business. You're still blaming De Ruyter himself for it and we can't be sure it's actually his fault. Eskom could simply at this point already be beyond saving, even if government truly gets out of the way. Blame Eskom as a whole sure, blame government as a whole, but no single person is responsible for the state Eskom is in. This mess stretches back more than 20 years. That should be obvious.
 
Sure it's a 20year old mess. I don't blame De Ruyter. Just saying he was no better than any before him. Look jumping onto the titanic after it has already gone under in an attempt to save it is a fools errand in any case.

We are used to the the capitalist system where a CEO makes the calls and is ultimately responsible.
This communist story where the CEO just follows orders hasn't sunk in yet.
Will still be a while till people blame the ones who are really responsible.

He wasn't actively stealing as far as I'm aware. We know a lot of his predecessors were. In that sense he was better than those before him.
 
No look I'm fine I have other businesses it's the people that can least afford it that is hit hardest.

I went to a small business in the informal sector yesterday usually a thriving place. Yesterday they couldn't serve me and others because of loadshedding. Owner told me he had spent all his money on a generator and petrol but now can't afford the petrol anymore. His business is slowly dieing he employs 5 people.

I gave him R70 all I had in cash as he doesn't take cards. He ran to go buy petrol. The customers left anyways

Seems that way... If there was ACTUAL equality in this country, those non-payers, including the countries to which we export electricity, would just get cut like the rest of us do if we do not pay.

Inevitable considering the huge mess it was before he came in.... It's impossible for ANYONE to 'fix it quickly' at this point.
