I do not think he has thought this through. Netflix decides to pay to have its content prioritized, it does the analytics and find MWEB to be the larger ISP of Netflix viewers. They proceed to pay Mweb to give priority to traffic, Cybersmart is not happy they are not getting anything out the deal and degrades the Netflix experience.
Cybersmart customers flock to MWEB.
Besides that there is the logical argument of how does he think it is possible for Netflix to pay every ISP in every country? Ludicrous

I just BET, the Comcasts and AT&T's contacted the local ISP's here in SA and begged them for the howto cheat sheet, on how to screw over the consumers!

Big ISP's can negotiate, smaller ones will probably have much less favourable terms and get screwed in the long run.
Or like somebody else said (although less likely): what if Netflix get so big they turns tables and says "Pay us for this content or your subscribers will be shut out"

Our use of the Cybersmart backbone is in no way an endorsement of the views of a competitor in the industry who also happens to be providing certain products to us. As you well know the Internet is built on providers being each others clients for various things. An ISP does not endorse the position of Telkom as a necessary consequence on using Telkom products and services.
Crystal Web's position of net neutrality is closely aligned to the view expressed by Google and as soon as an opportunity arises to set out a discussion on net neutrality, traffic prioritising, shaping and throttling a position.
If Cybersmart's position on net neutrality results in our clients being prejudiced we will naturally discontinue our use of the Cybersmart backbone and use the other contingency provisions in our business plan.
Obviously I support (and defend your right) to boycott a provider and related entities as an expression of moral outrage but do implore you at this juncture at least to consider the engagement opportunities which arise - a single customers account is not as influential as account numbers in the thousands.
If you do decide that you do not wish to use our services due to a marginal connection to Cybersmart please send us an email setting out your position so that I can use it in any engagements on the issue.

we do however use on the majority of our offerings the Cybersmart backbone. Our relationship to Cybersmart is of the same genus as all ISP's relationship to Telkom and CellCs relationship to Vodacom.

One day, Google, Netflix and the rest of the techs are going to have their own networks. They are on track already and are also currently producing their own content. They will just up and buy sports teams etc. I can't WAIT for that day to come. A lot of traditional media companies are going to drop like a turd in a well. Good riddance you greedy useless b4stards.
