Netflix and Hulu+: A PS3 Setup Guide

Hey MXkid77 - got the same error from my PS3 and gave up after a couple of hours...

I accessed Netflix using my MacBook, however, once they conducted their credit card verification they realized that I'm not in he U.S!!! (Kinshasa at the time) I'm back in SA and about to give one last try...hence, I joined the forum. Hoping there's a post showing you a way around the U.S details part of setting up a Netflix account.

Did not change much to solve the PSN issue, it came right the next day. Might have been something on Sony's side the fixed.
 
I decided to join the Unotelly + Netflix route yesterday using the tutorial, but encountered the dreaded Netflix Error NW-2-5.

However, Netflix was working fine from my pc and tablet, so couldn't be an isp issue.

After some frustrating attempts to fix it, finally got a way to get the app to work on the ps3.

If you have the same issue as me, try the following:

1) On another device (I used my PC), register your Unotelly account
2) Obtain your DNS numbers from Unotelly and change it on your device as per the Unotelly instructions.
3) Go to Netflix.com, you should end up on the US site, and register an account.
4) After that, you can test if Netflix work on the device. If everything was done right, it should.
5) On your PS3, log into your normal SA account, don't update your PS3 DNS setting yet.
6) Go to the TV devices icon and install the Netflix app.
7) Open the Netflix app and log on, you should then be in the SA Netflix catalogue
8) Quite the Netflix app and go change your PS3 DNS settings as per instruction.
9) Open the Netflix app again and you should be now be in the US catalogue :)

TLDR: install Netflix app on your PS3 using your default internet setting. Open app and log in with your Netflix account. Close app and change PS3 DNS settings. Open app to view US catalogue.

I have to add that the PS3 has an amazing decoder for Netflix. The streams are flawless. On My Galaxy Tab it's not so good from time to time. The Ipad though is just as good.

I'm using my PS3 and am happy with it. Downloaded the iOS app for my iPhone last night and can choose the show on my phone and just cast it to my PS3. Quite legit.

What is the IOS app name to do that?

Had a similar experience with the hulu ps3 app.

Logged into my American playstation network account, downloaded the hulu app. However, trying to open it, would get error message about servers being full etc.

Logged out and into my sa account, and voila, hulu all of the sudden working. Seems their is some dns blocking or something taking place.

Just went into App Store and typed Netflix.

Was Red text with white background
 
How do I register a Hulu account? Wont accept my Visa debit card or my Paypal account.

Don't think you can, you need a US visa/mastercard with a valid US address. Probably best to sign up for one of those virtual credit cards (Like Entropay) I think that does the trick.

Hulu took my FNB credit card with no issues.
I've probably changed card numbers at least twice as well.

Please, whatever you do, do not use Entropay.

I didn't work, and out of the $21 which I deposited, I was only given $13 back when I cancelled.
They are thieves....STAY AWAY FROM ENTROPAY - you have been warned!
 
Anyone getting unstable quality with Netflix on PS3? All other devices streaming HD fine but PS3 keeps switching between low and high resolution on 8mb line.

I've been getting occasional patchy streaming on Smart TV. I'm guessing it's most likely something upstream, it's fine for me now.
 
I am having issues with Hulu and my FNB cards, i've had Hulu for a very long time and suspended due to not having internet now i can't get it to charge my card, i tried fnb debit and credit, Std bank credit. And nothing works, never had an issue like this before.

Any Ideas?

Are you using the website to update your card details?
I've had cards expire and re-issued, changed them at least three times within the last three years on Hulu's website, never ran into any issues.
The PS3/PS4 app can be dodgy at times, like when it refuses to accept my valid credentials.
I know it sounds silly but just wanted to make sure you are using the website and not the app to update your details (not even sure if you can update payment details on the app).

Always use the website, even tried different valid zip codes. All the cards i'm using are current, the one that was on there was expired so now i am basically stuck. I then proceeded to create a new account, and Hulu is still not accepting any of the cards.

That's a strange one.
Enigma had the same issue a few posts up, perhaps PM him and see how he managed to get the issue resolved?
 
I've got the same problem. It's not accepting any of my cards. I may just have to buy another voucher from buyfrompowerseller.com

Those prices are brutal... what with a 30% markup.
I really hope you find another way.
