We've had Netflix for years but due to medical cost issues we had to cut back on our monthly streaming spending. We stream Disney+ as I buy an annual subscription.

Netflix (R99 pm)
1.the wife likes some shows on it(happy wife happy life)
2.there are some content like docuseries I enjoy.

Prime (R79pm)
I mostly sail the high seas with their content as my card I first signed up for is no longer an accepted card from my location. Some shows there like Bosch attract me to it. I have ALL the Michael Connelly books the characters are built on, and yes for me it is a good transition from book to film

I would get either or both, if finances allow as things are very sticky over the last 4-6 months financially. We both spent over a week each in hospital between March and May/June so there are some co-pays to be making.

One can only watch one streaming service so long that you stop finding something to watch. I blame their algorithms for it. Just because I watched one episode of a series or 15 minutes of a movie with no plot it means I like this sort of crap and fill recommendations and "what to watch tonight" reel. They keep trying to push Tailor schit and the cardashians off on me. I do not watch that and neither does my wife.

How about sharing someone's Netflix Premium account and giving them R40 pm for the favour? Assuming that works of course, not sure to what degree they are clamping down on account sharing.

Prime perhaps also share with someone?

Netflix no longer allow account sharing. Not sure about Prime though. Will have to investigate. Thank you for the idea.

Netflix account sharing is still working for me, but I don't know if that's because it was setup and shared prior to them clamping down.

Can you watch all the series and videos in South Africa on Prime or do you need to use a VPN?

I doubt that's a factor as I have a long-standing family account. A friend on it has been booted, while the other users have not yet. Based on readings, I guess it checks that the devices connect to a common network at some point.

I suspect some things are geo-locked.

I pay for both services OP asks about but I watch neither: kids. I once watched Popeye on Prime and that was that.

I believe Netflix offers more in terms of content and their catalogue is HUGE. Especially if you go the VPN route . But I have both because of my demanding kids  … I never watch Prime but yeah I watch some old and new series on Netflix. Their app is also better designed.

We like Prime in my house. R79 can play on 5 devices. Netflix R99 can only play 1 device. That's why I moved to Prime, the kids kept upgrading my Netflix so more devices can play.

Share my Netflix family acc with 2 people. One lives 10km away in Tokai, other 200km away in Montagu

No problems so far

If you can't work out a plan for both them go with Netflix. Better library, and has better quality shows overall, imo. Prime has an insane out of low quality filler content.

Sometimes I wonder why I am even paying R200 a month for Netflix, But prime is even worse to be honest.

Noob.

Get someone to share their Netflix login/password with you, and you take an Amazon Prime and share that with them.

2 stones with 1 bird and all that.

Netflix started boring me to death.

I’ve been finding most stuff on Prime lately. And yes geo location is filtering a lot.

When I travel I’ll often open my apps to watch and suddenly have access to completely different (and new) shows. Then when I return and it tries to resume then it says it’s not available lol
