I've been helping a mate set up Netflix and we've had no luck trying to get a payment through. We used his postcode with a 1 in front to make it like a zip code and that appeared to be OK. The errors were all related to the bank card number.

We've used Nedbank Mastercard, American Express, SAA Voyager Mastercard, Standard Bank debit, and his mum's FNB debit.

I've been OK using my FNB cheque card, so has anyone any idea if there's a preferred type of card that seems to work over others?

I use my Standard Bank Credit card, try using a credit card?

It's the same one I use and it is a valid zip code.

Are you sure it's a valid zip code?
Have you searched for the code?
Are you using the same address as the zip code?
Whenever I have had issues it was always related to the zip code not matching the address.

I've never given an address as far as I can remember in any transaction, but yes, it's valid and relates to several addresses in the US. I picked the one in Kansas and I used it to register for PBS.

This was a couple of months ago but it also worked for a friend nearby who I set up a couple of weeks ago.

Also, it gives you specific errors on the registration and they all related to the card, either the number or the cvv.

Strange.
Maybe consider paypal then?
I have both options to be safe.

paypal I can use my STD bank Cheque or CC.

Yep, his internet went down (thanks Telkom) so I told him to sign up for paypal when it's back up. I'm sure that'll be fine that way but it's driving me nuts just wondering wtf???

I have a similar problem on my son's xbox.
It will not accept my cc or cheque account details.
I have to use paypal.

Ah, that's interesting. I'd just done the unodns thing on his laptop and was trying to register Netflix on that before setting up the Netflix app on his Samsung TV. Maybe try another device or set it up directly on the TV if the paypal thing doesn't work (which I'm sure it will).
