Hope someone could help shed some light please.

I am using a proxy to access Netflix USA, however this only works on my Win PC and my iPhone. On any other device it doesn't work, xbox, smart tv etc. . It either just loads the SA netflix anyway, or it is on the USA but when you try play anything you get "It appears you are using a proxy etc etc. . "

So weird I don't get it? Any help much appreciated.

Which proxy? Have you set it up on your router or on the individual devices?

Netflix does a deep packet inspection on devices . Without putting IP routing for netflix streams through router you won’t be able to watch on devices .

Get a MikroTik then force DNS (port 53) through it. That way Netflix will work on any device on your network.

Thanks for that, that makes more sense.

are you sure about this ? Have you tested this way on a smart TV or Xbox ?

Using a VPN on my android, Netflix works a treat.

Cool smartdns works differently to a Vpn though, it only redirects specific routes . Vpn will reroute all traffic through Vpn therefore will work .

Yes I am sure about this hence the in depth guide on exactly how I do it.

Netflix / iPlayer works on every device in my home, Playstation, Xbox, Samsung TV, Chromecast, Surface Pro, iPad, Phones, PCs, Laptops the works.

Because the DNS request is forced to the proxy via the router.

Thanks Thor . Didn’t see link . Makes sense . Will try it with a ddwrt router using Firewall Nat. Appreciate it .

That should work fine too, I'll check tomorrow if I have my ddwrt configs still used to run it on a Netgear router.

Basically you just want to force port 53 to the proxy DNS.

Thanks for all the replies guys, appreciated. I did setup the static routes, but gave up last night as the wife was getting grilled that she couldn't watch netflix :D

Going to give it a go again today.
