Long time reader first time poster.

So we took the leap and cancelled DSTV and all it entails, R 12,000 a year less makes sense for repeat programming. Stronger ADSL and two subscriptions will give me a saving of about R 500 per month. Registered Netflix and Showmax and will stream sport, upgraded to Axxess ADSL 8MEG uncapped proffessional and it works like a charm!

We have a LG smart tv that we utilise for our entertainment.

Here is my question: Im not technologically advanced but can do the most basic things.

I have read that you can subscribe to a VPN to be able to stream the American version of Netflix but Im totally lost how this can be done! I dont know how I will install the files onto the LG tv ETC.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Just stick to the SA Netflix, it's not as bad as everybody says it is. It's getting better all the time. You will need to pay for something like Getflix etc and change the DNS within the router or the device to one of their regions, so that it thinks you in the US or somewhere else

Honestly, I just haven't bothered, and just use the local one. But some of the other guys could probably better assist you.

What kind of sport are you hoping to stream. and from where. As for bypassing region blocking to watch Netflix USA, forget about it. Netflix won that battle.

Have a LAN Cable into laptop and logon using a friends logins for Supersport. DSTV allows 5 devices. HDMI cable directly into TV. Quality is bordering on HD I would say. LG Smart TV internet service does not work if you login with DSTV credentials, Supersport site says videoplayer not supported. Bit of a bummer to do it this way round.

Not entirely, although you just about need a CS degree / 10 years experience in IT to be able to pull it off. And it only works on a case by case basis. But it still works. Streaming US 4K here.

Sounds difficult. Netflix SA great but on certain series Netflix USA have all the newest episodes where Netflix SA lags a bit behind. So you say super difficult? Im an Accountant and wouldnt know where to start.

Logged in with a mates credentials from Namibia, basically the same conent but display is very different but it worked fine.

Honestly as I said, just stick to local Netflix, and download the episodes that you want to watch which are not available.

I just cancelled Netflix anyway. Why pay the R149 p/m and we watch maybe one show a month.

Another question / issue:

We have two small ones in the house and both Netflix and Showmax SERIOUSLY lags behind in Kids programming. Very limited Dreamworks and Disney content available. Blaze and Paw-Patrol are the go-to child whispering and calming programming at this stage but this is seriously limited choice on the streaming services. Thanks for all the insights and replies!

What is best place to stream Rugby?

DStv Now

But for this you would still need a DSTV premium account or not? Will you be able to watch this from DSTV now onto your TV?

You still need a premium account, so no idea why this was suggested.

Also don't look at DNS-based solutions to "unlock" Netflix. Stick with a VPN (which I think you can setup on your router depending on what you have or not).

If you don't already, get an Android TV set-top box as the "Smart" TV's are usually limited. Through there you can get Mobdra and Terrarium TV to supplement Showmax and Netflix.

Try Iptv.
In region of R112 p/m for an entertainment package, most of the kids channels are there.
I'm trialling http://www.ripperiptv.com/home/ on 20Mb vdsl line and so far so good.

And they have a 24/7 paw patrol channel running.

No they haven't.
Been using a VPN for the past 2 years now to stream the Netflix USA package using ExpressVPN...setup is a cinch and easy with instructions...you need a VPN anyway if you are paranoid about security on the net...

Cut loose from DStv premium package looong ago...

Hi, I know this is a bit of an old post but if you still require any assistance with Netflix USA or anything else you can contact me.

Regards,
Greg.
I'm interested, what does it cost?
