I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I only discovered it last night and I'm sure it will be helpful to someone. If you change the Unotelly Dynamo setting to UK you will be changed over to the UK Netflix service and there are way more choices, obviously more British programming and the movies are much more up to date. One example is the new Breaking Bad (Half Season) episodes 9 onward that is now available on the UK site, but not on the US one.

I've been aware of the dynamo setting etc. Just did not realize shows like BB are pretty much up to date on the UK side. Thanks for the post.
 
How does this work if I have a subscription with the US Netflix? I have credit and each month it takes it off from the credit for the service - will it still work if I change over?

I think it still works... basically its treated as if you are an American going on holiday to the UK. In The US you get US content, in the UK you get UK content.

So by changing the Dyndns setting you are just moving between the countries.

Must actually try it out myself.
 
FNB credit card works for Netflix without problems.

If you check out the settings in unotelly you can choose between 11 countries with different content. You only need one subscription, I am registered on the US site.
 
Unotelly allows the Netflix location to change on many devices (Roku, iOS and I assume PS3 as well). You can access the settings from a mobile device so it's not a mission.

However if you're watching from a browser, another option is Hola Unblocker which can change regions as well.

I've found a site, http://www.moreflicks.com/ , that allows you to search all the Netflix regions (as well as iTunes, Vudu, Hulu, Crackle and BBC iPlayer).

  • Netflix UK has the Breaking Bad deal as well as Dexter and most British shows, as well as The Hobbit.
  • Netflix Canada has more recent movies such as Life of Pi, The Sessions and Flight as well as Homeland.
  • You can even watch The Dark Knight Rises in the Nordic regions.
  • Brazil and Mexico also have some good content not in the US catalogue.

I've haven't paid that much attention but I assume these regions don't update as frequently as Netflix US does, with the except of Breaking Bad on Netflix UK as there's a specific deal in place (http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/26/4559132/breaking-bad-netflix-uk-final-episodes-exclusive). Hopefully more shows follow suit!
 
Oh and yeah you only need one subscription. I'm not sure if changing often will bring up a red flag of sorts but I've been doing it for a few weeks now.

I've been trying to figure out a way to have a different region on a different device (E.g. US on Roku, UK on PS3, etc.) but haven't had much luck yet.

@RichardG For the sign up. American postal code have the format 5 digits - 4 digits (xxxxx-xxxx). Search for a postal code where the 4 digits match the postal code of your bank's branch, as that's linked to your card apparently. I saw that in a different forum on here and it worked for me.

E.g. My bank's post code is 2041 and my American address is 20010-2041 (Washington). But it could also be 14626-2041 (New York). Try this site: http://zip.postcodebase.com/
 
wow awesome, just switched over and there are definitely a ton of more up to date shows.
 
Unotelly's dynamo makes it so easy to switch... literally a few seconds and I can swap between US and UK Netflix. While UK has a ton more shows I couldn't find burn notice or supernatural... which is all I'm watching at the moment.
 
@Alan: If you are streaming from a PC, press Alt-Shift and then left click mouse button in the playing window (all at same time). A menu should pop up and choose Stream Manager. You can monitor the streaming rate from here or manually adjust the buffering rate to see if that helps. If you are using a Roku press Home X5 (5 times), Rew X3, FF X2.　This should bring up a menu where you can modify the streaming rate manually.

I have been playing Footloose from Netflix USA for the last few minutes and it is currently reporting a streaming rate of 750 on my WA MyBB 30GB special using tunlr.

yeah I checked that out. Netlix UK is pretty stable 750 but USA is 375 dropping to 235 more often than not. The odd spike to 560

I have the same account as you
 
i only have complains about the netflix USA movie selection.
Whats the difference on the UK one? anyone have a list of good movies there?
