Netflix ZA Live

Ok cool, I will try it tonight but wanted to know prior to doing it. If I can have both on the TV then I think I can oficially say that my entertainment needs are satisfied. I will downgrade the DSTV to the SABC package, wife still loves 7de Laan

Or you could buy an OVHD decoder (for SABC channels and more) and pay once off instead of supporting MultiChoice?

I'm still connecting to a CDN node overseas :/

Probably depends on the content itself.

Like how not all of YouTube is cached locally, but the popular stuff is.

yeah true I guess.
But I thought their appliances each had a full library on them?

The landing page and URL aren't really relevant. It's only when the content lists are presented that the regional filters are applied. Their philosophy is that no matter where you subscribed, you can watch content they have for your present location. So when you travel, you automatically get to watch whatever is presented in the country that you're in at the time. It's how unotelly gets round things - it just proxies your requests for the content library via the country you've set dynamo to.

So basically if you create a SA account and then purchase Unotelly you will be able to use that account to watch US/ Uk / Swiss netflex content.

This may help the new guys that won't have to setup a US address for card payment. Or am I wrong?

You are correct.

100% correct and what MyBB should be running articles about. Not how our SA offering is sooo much smaller than other countries...

Did exactly this today as a first time Netflix user.

Kicking myself for not signing up and using US version 12 months ago!

Awesome, this may help me from battling to re-setup my old US test account. And simply get Unotelly, (become a new customer again). Then I can move on to other US services such as Spotify and Hulu etc.

Anyone tried running this on their Android phone? I am trying to do the registration on the Android App, and just have a red circle spinning on my Note 4 connected 4G

Kicking yourself because you missed out on awesome content or because you didn't want to hassle the setting up US account?

That would be regional restrictions that would be overcome, which is why Netflix was considered pirating last year. So if MyBB did that they would promoting a crime isn't it?

Because ROKU had to be resetup with a new US account
Because thought Unotelly was a mission

Took me all of 30min to get everything up and running today, albeit ROKU app install was easier because SA region entitled to it now

Works fine on my S5 - installed via Google Play, logged in and off I went

So considering how little is in the SA Netflix, hardly anybody with an existing US setup would carry on paying for Netflix if they blocked VPN \ DNS trickery?

This is basically the situation:

Netflix SA < Showmax because DSTV owns too many rights
Netflix US / UK > Netflix SA / Showmax

Not really.

A VOD service is more than just shows. Yeah sure ShowMax has HBO stuff, but that's it. Netflix is on everything from DVD Players, to gaming consoles. ShowMax is on neither. Then there's the recommendation engine and the ability to rate shows, creating watchlists and more.

ShowMax has a lot of features they still need to develop to catch up.
