Netgear DG834 Firmware Upgrade - Missing Image

Hi.

I recently upgraded the firmware on my new Netgear DG834 ADSL modem, using the following file - DG834Gv4NA_V5.03.14.img - downloaded from the Netgear UK web site (can't seem to find the URL in my browser history).

The firmware upgrade went fine - everything works. But now the top banner in the web interface of the router doesn't load. If I right-click on the missing image icon, and click View Image, I get a 404.

It's not a big deal - but it bothers me. Is there any way to fix this? I tried re-applying the update, but it makes no difference. Here's a screenshot:

Try extracting the img file and then placing the image file from an old firmware update in the appropriate directory in the extracted img file, then compress it again. But I would just ignore it, it's not serious.

GD TEAM worked well for me, I can now turn my pc on via my router with wake on lan

Your router manufacturer probably won't like any of the methods above. Installing GDTeam would be a good idea. (What carudden said)

How did you download it? The UK site just directs me back to the US site, where, after waiting over five minutes per attempt, each attempt tells me the file is not found.

Oh yes, I'm using a DG834v4. Is there a chance I could get the file from you?

I'm 80% sure I used the UK site. Goto http://www.netgear.com/Countries.aspx and choose UK, or goto http://www.netgear.co.uk.

I can send you the file via Skype/Email. Send me a PM if you want it.

EDIT: OK I noticed that if I click on the support/drivers link on the DG834 page on the UK site, it takes me to http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/family/a_id/1287.

So I guess the firmware updates are all hosted in the same place. Look at the above link, can anyone tell me the difference between DG834v2, v3 and v4, respectively? How do I know which firmware update I should download? Does it even matter? The router box/packaging just states DG834, with no version number...

Edit: OK turns out I have a DG834v4. The sticker underneath the modem/router was the big giveaway.

The version number should be visible on the underneath of the router.

Turns out I did download the firmware update for DG834v4, but it was the version which is meant for North America only.

DG834Gv4NA_V5.03.14.img - wrong one
DG834Gv4_V5.01.14.img - right one

The top banner image shows up now

Will try GDTeam firmware later this week, when I have time..
