Hi all,

I'm struggling to find a firmware upgrade for my Netgear DG834GUv5

According to it, the firmware is: TKV6.00.26

Anyone guide me in the right direction?
The Netgear site is awful! :(

Router firmware upgrades tend to be a mission 99% of the time. They usually work...but finding a suitable one is a complete fkin disaster. I'll skip the details (its the wifi regions)...

Avoid if possible. Is there a specific reason why you want an upgrade? If you don't have one...just chill with the current firmware.

Couple of issues I'm having, one of the issues is relating to my laptop disconnecting now and again.
Also, I can't see any Wireless attached devices - I can see the network cable connected devices (on my other router, I could see ALL attached devices)

I found another thread, in that, who.is.michael I think it is, suggested a change of security to: WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) - I had it on WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK and I also disabled the feature: TR069 Client

Going to see what happens now...

That could be a network problem or a bad stack. There were a thread on MyBB with a similar problem, something to do with the stack or connections order! Shoot me if I can remember where! I am sure ifn you start another thread referring to the wireless network problem someone will be able to sort you out!

No chance of finding it using the search feature? ;)

Strange thing though hey, this issue has only started today.
Download netstumbler or similar to check channels. Maybe a nearby dude set up an adsl router and thats now interfering.

That oke was a bit flakey anyway...varied between solid advice and crap advice by the hour. In this particular case...its poor advice. Just keep it on some kind of WPA and you'll be OK.

If memory serves then WPA2 is AES based while WPA is some other crypto. Whatever...won't matter.

I use a Netgear router for the kids to play lan games on and as a guinea pig for any other network effort , i downloaded and installed Tomato on it and i tell u what it works like a dream and gives you a helluva lot more options than the stock firmware .
Google it , theres a good guide on wikibooks which includes a router compatibility list .
