Netgear DG834G , I need to know how to run this router in bridge mode , what I want to do:

Keep main saix acc login on router so wifi clients can auto be connected, then additionally allow for a IS acc to be dialed by the wifi clients for local only access and routsentry used to split int via wifi card e.g. atheros and then local via an acc that users dial into e.g. openweb 30gb local.

I used to be able to do this on my marconi router rather easily but the netgear seems to not let me dial that extra connection...

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks
J

you wont be able to do it on the netgear....it cant do half bridge

Zomg

ZOmg so marconi > netgear, shocker heart attack , now i know why i prefer linksys and billion , netcrap needs to be tossed.

Use a PC based router to do both connections.
A bit of a schlepp with the wireless bit - but doable.

Google mikrotik.

If I do bridge do i lose wifi?

If i do bridge do I lose wifi? Can i then use my linksys wrt54g to handle the wifi part? Suggestions, have 4 pc's, want to have the laptop and the vista machine use the default saix acc and the 2 others use a new saix and is account.

Thanks - J

wrt54gL ?
If so, load openwrt on it and then you can use it to route wifi traffic to the netgear.

put netgear in bridge. non-wifi can make pppoe and the wrt can also do pppoe with openwrt and the right packages (not sure exactly on which ones -google!).

nonsense, of course you can set netgear to half bridge.

log into the router, on the left, go to advanced - WAN setup and tick 'Enable PPPoE Relay'

now your router can connect automatically with an account, and you can have pc's connect to it and run their own accounts via PPPOE.

If anything, netgear is far superior to most other brands, you just need to know how to use it.

Which netgear?
IIRC, my netgear does not do that.
I had to activate bridge in a hidden settings page.

Thanks for all who helped - but misinformation is a no no.

I have a G, I went out to buy the GT but they didn't have stock, luckily for me, my one has the pppoe relay.

Can we see some models & firmware versions here? ;)

I've just confirmed that DG834Gv2, firmware v3.01.25 - no such option...
