Netgear Router Help!!!

Firmware V4.01.20

I have the Enable PPPoE Relay option.

must be a later revision router then... latest supported firmware for v2 only goes up to 3.01.32...

50% Successful

I managed to update my firmware of my DG384Gv3 to the latest firmware (4.01.30). I finally got the option to enable PPPOE relay which I did, and all seemed great, I was able to connect via the router, but when I tried to dial-up it wont get passed "Verifying Username and Password".

Can someone please help me?

Thanks,
Sean Arenson

If there is an active Internet connection on the Router, first disconnect then try.

just make sure all your default settings are correct.
router/pc settings etc.

there has been a problem with IS's authenticating server today, so that might the problem?

It obviously has to be my settings,
I'm just unsure how to change them to fix the problem,
When I change my device mode back to 'Modem' I can connect perfectly, so to me this doesn't make sense at all :(

ummm....how about the router settings...setup the router to connect automatically. put in all the details needed...

then if it works, change the setting to "dont connect" (I dont have my modem with me, I cant check the the actual wording)
then make sure PPPOE relay is ticked...then try dialing in with your connection you made on the pc.

(perhaps PPPOE relay still requires the router settings to be correct?)

Possibly, I'll reflash my router later and give it another bash,
I had my router connected to the internet aswell, so maybe that was causing the problem..
I'll fiddle around with it all later
There is no reason why it shouldnt work
Appreciate the help :)
Thanks :D

Go to your ADSL Settings on the left.
Change your Multiplexing Method to LLC Based.
VPI = 8
VCI = 35
DSL Mode = AUTO

Let me know if that helps

Pppoe Relay - Help!!!

The router is ummmm not allowing me to dial up my seperate acc, half bridge i think this is called, main acc on router, other acc dials up seperately to be used with routesentry. Problem is when I dial second acc it gets stuck on verifying username and password, doesnt go any further, doesnt give any error message...

Anyone have any reason this would happen/fix...

Thanks
J

Helpful man...

Was hoping for a kind of more hands on tip than me having to troll through netgear who probably wont reply anyhow. Anyone know why I cant get my Netgear DG834G to dial up a seperate acc when PPPOE relay is enabled. Main saix acc on router, sep IS acc to be dialed hence a kind of half bridge.

PPPOE relay is enabled , second acc gets stuck whilst dialing and hangs at verifying username and password. Refuses to go further, refuses to give an error, just sits at that screen.

Help Wanted.

Thanks
J

To my knowledge i dont think you can do that on your netgear and very few. I have the GT and am unable.

The modem just doesn't support half bridge AFAIK, you either dial up from the modem itself or from the individual computers, not both.

Keviniswan or whatever his username is :P (sorry dont feel like backtracking) is able to do so. Once pppoe relay is enabled it allows me to dial, gets as far as veryfying username and password and then goes no further, no error message, nothing, it is dialing...

Anyone figured out anything?

I orginially came with this trouble, and I still haven't been able to fix it..

Why would Netgear allow this option for this router (PPoE Relay in latest firmware version) if it doesn't work..

It makes no sense what so ever.
