Hi guys,

A noob question for you.

I have recently set up the USB readyshare on my Netgear Router and have been using it to watch movies/series on a pc/iPad in a different room. How much data does this use , if any? I have a low data cap and which seems to be dissapearing ans was wondering if this was contributing to it?

Thanks!

It shouldn't contribute to your cap at all if you're accessing readyshare over WiFi or LAN, but if you're accessing it remotely via the internet (usually using your IP address) then it will use your ADSL data.

The way we are accessing it is to type \\readyshare into Internet Explorer, in my understanding this isn't connecting to it via the Internet but as I say my understanding is limited. :D

Am I correct in this thinking?

Easy test, disconnect the internet, see if it keeps working ;)

If you can format your drive in linux EXT3 or EXT4 its much faster to read and write to the drive over the network.
