Double the storage, android 11 vs 10

There is that, but basically what the one does the other will do the same. Double the space, I get by with the lesser about of space, and difference between Android 10 and 11 is for most purposes nothing to get excited about.

For me the better performance, and AV1 codec support is why I would rather have the Nova box. But others have other preferences

But that’s like saying a 320i and M3 is similar, apart from engine, the looks and a few other things

I mean you’re right in saying Mi S is the same as the Nova, if you take out the processor, the storage, the OS …

Hopefully you are still using your X96 box ...

I was going to upgrade my Samsung & X96 to an LG C1 & Shield - but no point as they’re essentially the same.

Same with my PS4 - pretty much the same as the PS5.

No point in upgrading anything as everything is the same

Vanity is a bugger ... :)

What's the advantage in dropping the optical port? Multichoice still even offer the coaxial as well on their decoders.

If only they made Bluetooth more useful friendly on Android TV. On my phone I can open settings and select which Bluetooth device I want to use but on the TV I can not.

Our market is a relatively small market - so a customer doesn't get to 'build' a box from scratch and have to rely on what they have. A customer can do small tweaks such as RAM, storage etc - but the basic core box needs to already exist. The rest of the world is past optical already :(

Nova review:

Got this since I already have a Mi stick 4k. Remote comes without batteries but I have a bunch of Energizer rechargeables anyway so great for me. Less things to chuck away. It's got a large plug (compared to the cellphone charger of the Mi stick) and I almost broke it trying to get it to fit on the same plug as the TV in the end I gave up and used an extension lead. It's probably to power all that USB ports. Remote is smaller which I like although it's thicker. Comes with zero bloatware unlike the mi stick with their China only launcher included. I really like that.

TL;DR should you get one?
I'll get the Mi stick 4k version if it's your first Android TV device. For a second TV etc this box is really great and well worth it if you don't need Dolby Atmos.

Great review.

You’ve always been pretty pro Xiaomi though, right?
