Mine runs at 11 MB/second between Windows 7 and XP... which is about normal.

but it is also supposed to be running at Gigabit speeds

both cards and the switch are all gigabit.

What cabling are you using? generally for gigabit speeds you will want to use cat5e or cat6.

ok so i understand now that 100 megabit ethernet will only give me speeds i am seeing now, so it is normal then. thanks guys. for helping me understand this.

still i will try the direct link tomorrow, and check if the speed increase
