Hi there,

Maybe someone can help me, I'm looking for a discovery tool that I can run on one PC or 1 server in my network to scan all the PCs and devices on the LAN.
Id like to collect PC name, IP, OS, user that's signed in, and PC name.
Could anyone advice anything good? Preferably free.

Thank you

Spiceworks may work (although it only registers the pc name once :p )

There are tons of freeware tools and amazing one's which have a hefty price tag (these mostly include monitoring and maintenance features)... Not going into any depth of what is available and whose reporting features I regard the best.

What I would suggest is trying a trial of CentraStage and I do not know that if it is still possible. I know that many companies abused this trial to do IT/System audits; it is still a trial so do what you have to do in your limited time. If you do like CentraStage, I would advise you to utilise the full capacity of the features. If you are based in Cape Town, give them a call and tell them that you want to test the product doing a system audit...

Got the community link, just ask here: http://community.centrastage.com/centrastage
