Hi guys,

I have a question i have 2 builings about 150M apart with no public road between them. I currently have 2 x 54Mbps wifi points to link the 2 buildings. My question is what can i do at a reasonable price to increase the link speeds. If possible another wireless sollution.

Thanks Frank

Expect to pay around R750.00 per RB SXT, then associated mounting pole/tripod bracket/labour/etc (if you're doing the install or getting someone else to do it, etc).

Thanks very much for the info! I hate to ask but do you know any good installers in the Pretoria east area?

'fraid not, I'm in Durbs, hopefully some of the folk on this forum can point you in the right direction though :)

A roll of ruggedised fibre and some plastic piping and you'll never look back. You'll probably spend about double what you're spending on the wireless gear (which is not a lot of money). Benefit is that you won't have to upgrade the kit AGAIN in 6 months time when you flatline the link. 1Gbps fibre is the way to go :)

This would be my first choice. So you would say it would be around R3K? Is this something i can do myself? if so where would i get the cable? and what about spliceing? Thanks for the reply

You can order two core cable to length and get it delivered with the ends spliced on. If you'd prefer to future proof a little more then get a 24 core cable and only get one or two pairs terminated. You'll probably want to find a local company that does fibre - the splicing requires expensive equipment. Find you own hands to do the digging.

If you have some knowledge you should be able to everything but the splicing yourself. Splicing cost is about R120/splice.
