Network quality - Rain's major problem

Even though I have FTTH, I still keep my R250pm rain as a backup. (or when at the office for my mobile)
I haven't used it in ages, but now that I am at the office today, I have it on for the 1st time in months.
And I get 1 bar signal on the router, and 4mb/s download speed...
(nothing obstructing the router, and it is at an open window)
This is pathetically slow.
Location: Cape Town, Observatory.
At this speeds, I do consider using the premium priced Vodacom Data over the Rain, just to be able to use the internet.

Seems RAIN disconnects every 15 minutes and then goes again. This is on 3 locations, using 2 sims. I know of 4 people who cancelled, yet, they do the ads on TV!
They Are now quite difficult to get hold of, just a bunch of FAQ bullsh!t and phone reps that DENY DENY DENY and ask people to dance around their homes to find better reception!

We started with 3 sims and everything was fine, but in one year we only have one left.

You are the exception then, I havent heard of anyone being happy with Rain over the last few months.
It's coz he is like the only person left on his network zone. Lucky bugger! :)

Rather complain than leave?? Uncapped, unshaped, unthrotled 10mbps fibre for the same price.......cheers!
Not everyone can get fibre.

“It is easy when you have an empty network, but when you offer aggressive deals it quickly fills up,” Joosub said.
And now I'm willing to wager Vodacom gets the lion's share of Rain's network capacity.

Good Day guys can anyone please advise me on the gaming experience rain provides on their 5g network, does multiple connection on the wifi effect ones gaming. Is there any packet loss when another device streams for example Netflix or YouTube? Thanks for your reply.

We were always happy with Rain's download speed, but since about 3 weeks ago the service deteriorated to the point that we have absolutely zero reception since 1 June. I have complaint several times on their website. The first time they followed up with a phone call and emails and the service improved for a day of two. This cycle repeted a few times every few days. They have now stopped to follow up on complaints. Side notes: I follow all their suggestions on how to improve signal etc. And it is not the device. When I insert the sim of a different service provider it works perfectly.

Having said all that I want to point out that 5G coverage went live at exactly the same time we started to experience the problems. On top of this there is now a special for three months where I can pay for 5G the exact same amount I now pay for the non-existent 4G.
Is this their very deceptive marketing strategy by making the current service as poor as possible while dangling something suppositely better at the same price in front of ones nose?

Second question: where can I escilate the complaint? As I mentioned, I have not recieved any service for something I payed for.

I got Rain 5G the week it went live in Brakpan, and at that time, I got around 120mbps down during peak time. Now over the months the speeds has decreased, and I just ran a speedtest now and got 44mbps. There has been days that I got very slow speeds under 10mbps, but I always contact @rain_mobile and he sorts it out for me, I would love to get back to the 120mbps, but I doubt it will happen.
