Networking HELL

NetBEUI = Faster than TCPIP - but has many holes in it. Also, your browser does not know how to use NetBEUI to browse, so you'll have to run them both simulatneously (NetBEUI and TCPIP), and then you get the problem of :: Which protocol must I use first ? i.e. You'll have to configure NetBEUI as the default protocol, with TCPIP second, meaning that most software will first try Netbui to get to it's destination, fail, and then try TCPIP. Slows things down a lot.
And - you'll still get the ip address conflicts - (If you're still getting them.).

not getting any IP conflicts with Netbios enabled. Will check 2moro if all i still well.
Off topic: Vodacom GPRS aint that bad. I only use my GPRS for internet and email. No telkom. Download speeds are about 5-6Kbps.

strike my last post. i have deleted it. i didnt see that there was a page 2 and a page 3 to this post :D

IMHO - you shouldnt be using NetBIOS at all if you have a win2k server - just use DNS and make sure your recursive lookups work. Kill WINS and NetBIOS altogether - it will make your network much happier. My guess for the problem here is that your DHCP is f*****. (or your router and server both have DHCP enabled)

Plenty of indirect Telkom Though :/

5-6KB/s isn't too bad... IF you had 3G and only used it as a fallback :p

ok let me put it this way, I NEVER use telkom anymore, only Vodacom GPRS via my phone, it's much cheaper!
