There's been a lot of questions around which phones will be release by when. These are the 3G phones that will be available before end of March.

Motorola V980
Sony Ericsson V800
Sharp 902

Motorola E1000 - Already available.

You'll notice the Nokia 6630 is not on this list. As posted before the quirky video call feature that requires a desktop cradle is counting against it. Worldwide it's taking flak because of this.

On this point, here are the top 5 most popular 3G phones, worldwide:

1 - Motorola V980 (Selling more than the next 4 combined)
2 - Sony Ericsson V800
3 - Samsung Z105
4 - Motorola E1000
5 - Sony Ericsson Z1010

 If anyone happens to browse for these phones on the manufacturer sites, please post the urls, or maybe even some review sites, stuff like that :)

The 6630 is taking flak? I'm not surprised. Nokia seem to have completely lost their way.

The V980 looks the worst of the bunch. I think it's the SE V800 or *gulp* the E1000.

I did see a review of the E1000 , but I forget where now. It got 7/10 if the grey matter serves me correct.

I've had 5 Nokia phones. I've been extremely happy with all of them. So I would like to stick to Nokia, but I've heard from a lot of people that the new Nokia phones just aren't up to scratch. I don't want to go Motorola, so my second choice would be Sony Ericsson. I've read reviews for both the Motorola V980 and the SE V800 and by the looks of things the V800 runs circles around the V980. Now all I want to know is price. So I will eagerly await the V800's release.

I was a Nokia user for many years, until I was introduced to Sony Ericsson [I hated the Ericsson phones]. Like VQuest, I won't go near a Motorola phone with a 10 foot pole [that would be 3.3m :D], but Samsung seems to be releasing some good phones - just a little slow on the technology uptake, methinks [too busy concentrating on attaching the latest camera lens to their phones]. Sony Ericsson is very innovative, and will remain my recommendation for now.

Ok, I'm done. ;)

SE phones are true workhorses and not gimmicky like the samsungs.... (ducks the bullets)

I too have had 5 Nokia phones and this one will be the last.
I got the 6230 and it is less stable than windows 3.1.
It shuts down for no reason, or rejects the Sim card (during a call) or just hangs and requires a reboot.
On the up side, I did come across a web site where the gang were developing a version of Linux for it, that could be an interesting upgrade.

I think the clear winner with these 3G phones is the SE V800. I'll just have to adapt to the clam shell design.

I currently have the Nokia 6600 - which is the worst phone I have ever had. Big mistake that one.

My old man has one of those. Strange things is he likes it. I can't even stand the look of it.

I've been using Siemens phones since my first Siemens S3. Great work horses.

But Siemens seems to have lost the plot recently - my next phone will most probably be the SE k700i (depending on the specials available in March)

Thx, PCW. Excellent User feedback... I look forward to my upgrade later this year...

hey kaspaas. if you going for sony ericsson and thinking about the k700 rather take the s700. ive got the k700, its the best phone ive ever owned, but the s700 is the same phone BUT it has a memery stick slot for up to a 1 gig card. which is wow for music and video etc. but then again consider waiting for the v800 coz its g3 or go now for z1010 which is already g3 BUT its close to a year old already

I have the Nokia 6310i at the moment. I absolutely love the phone, but compared to todays standards, it's antiquated and I really want a nice upgrade. As much as I wanted 3G, I was not prepared to pay R599 a month for 1GB. So since that was out of the picture, I really fancied the Nokia 6260 - it looks like a really nice phone. But since no one could tell me when it would be released (I've been waiting for months now), I started looking around and like kaspaas I had almost decided on the SE K700i. But then Vodacom went and released the cheaper 3G packages (YAY), which has put a big spoke in the works for me. So now I'm back to wanting a 3G phone. So the wait for the V800 begins.....

but u can go get the 6260 right now, in the shops, well its on nashuamobile website

I went into a vodashop yesterday to ask about the 6260 and was told it would be in within the next 2 weeks. So who knows.
