New ADSL packages from iBurst

I am looking for something to supplement my 8ta 10+10gig deal that is going to run for the last 12 months of it's contract. This Iburst offer seems reasonable but after reading some of the feedback in the Iburst threads I get no sense of comfort whatsoever - especially some of the dismal speedtest.net results.

Is there a way to test the speed from my location before committing to a purchase? But even then the fear of no consistency to speeds due to congestion is a problem...

I guess this is what will happen when people are starved of decent internet connectivity...

Hmm, in the past the more knowledgeable would not touch them with a barge pole. Have they changed?

I'd say this is cheap enough to give a shot for a month or two. Maybe all the bandwidth hungry advanced internet users have drop them and there are only 5 old tannies using them. :D

Where can I check the coverage?

Coverage?

Whever Telkom has an ADSL enabled exchange.

Anyone know what backbone this is on? IS I guess?

Ouch! IS? We peer for free, unlike them.

We have an IPC with Telkom like everyone else. We provide our own broadband. The network is built on Metroethernet using kit from Ciena. This network stretches all the way to Telehouse in London where we pick up transit from telia and cogent.

In ZA the metronet is on a 10 Gb/s ring that connects to peering points at NAP and JINX.

The IP Core is Cisco and is located at dual data centres at Midrand and Gallo Manor.

No peering with CINX?
