New ADSL user

Hi, i hope this in the right section. im pretty new to this adsl installation process.

I had a telephone installed on Saturday 6th feb, the phone works fine and all, i went to Telkoms ADSL checker and it says the service is not available? but there are people in my complex that has ADSL so i know the service is there? so what should I do?

apply for adsl anyway, hear from Telkom if they cannot give you adsl, if you located in anyone of the big towns then adsl is available

i want my own ISP, dont want to rent from telkom, i want my data and adsl line from another ISP

You still have to go through Telkom to get ADSL installed. You can then move your line to the ISP of your choice.

this is how it goes: you rent an adsl line with Telkom, then you apply for the data account wth an ISP of your choice, what I deduced from your first post is that you have a voice/analog line from telkom

That is correct, got a voice/analog line from telkom.
