New Android-based Hisense TVs for SA at CES 2014

So far the Hisense TVs that I've seen, don't have anything near the quality of a Samsung or a LG display, so I really don't see many people buying these.
If they can get the picture quality to look as awesome as other brands, then sure, why not.

I believe that Hisense, within 2 years, will be a dominant player in TV and home appliances in RSA. Generally when looking at TVs' on display in a shop demonstration, Samsung use a Samsung Bluray player, LG an LG player and Sony a Sony player.
To complicate this, Samsung also have a "demo" mode on all their screens. (I'm not sure if LG and Sony do).

The stores (instigated by sales reps?) also place, for example, a Samsung series 6 next to an entry level LG or Hisense.

With Hisense having invested substantially in a factory in Atlantis outside Cape Town (the old Telefunken operation) they are producing monitors/TV for a number of other OEMs' and in so doing eliminating the substantial import duty on larger monitors.

Some people are only into screen real estate and you get a decent screen at the price
