New Apple TV launched

Is the WDTV Live interface as slick as XBMC?

If not, then thats all the reason you need.

1) I am lost? Most media players can do that these days...
2) Has an iOS remote (And android) and supports DLNA
3) Just as small (I think maybe smaller) which has a user interface equal to XBMC.
 
Could you post screenshots of this interface, or is it the one thats on the WD website?
 
Fanks... I also couldn't find any on their website....

I think thats why i've discounted it... if the manufacturer can't be bothered to get the interface up, then they haven't paid enough attention to it in my opinion.

I don't know the WDTV at all, but they seem similar specced then. Where ATV still wins for me is tight and easy iOS integration. Can WDTV do Airplay, use Remote app to access and stream your itunes playlists, rate songs on your IOS device whilst streaming etc.

This is of course a personal preference, as stressed a few times before. Music, Airplay and iTunes is important in my setup.

The thing is with DLNA you don't need all these remote apps and air play nonsense. It just works.
Can the Apple TV play these formats?

Dude, you're missing my point. I want to sit on my couch, open my Remote app, select a song or playlist from iTunes and Airplay to my TV/AV receiver. Then I want to rate the song 3 stars should I wish to do so and know that tomorrow morning my pc, iphone and ipad's songs and smart playlists are updated and in sync. I want to be able to, with the flick of finger direct music or YouTube to either my braai room speakers, living room receiver, upstairs speakers or pc.

Can other setups do that? I'm sure they can. For me it just integrates perfectly and is super simple to setup. It just works.

Airplay works pretty cool, easy and intuitive - have you tried it?

Apple natively plays mk4. With XBMC installed it plays everything. Or with Air Video installed it plays everything.

As I said before, different strokes to different folks. Depending on your setup the user experience can be vastly different between various devices. :)

The ATV2 streams media from iTunes in a very convenient manner. iTunes doesn't play anything other than mp4 and mp3 type files, so you have to rip or transcode your movies to that format.

You can jailbreak it but that is a serious mission, not one I am prepared to do.

The wifi abilities tied in with home sharing and other iDevices is awesome. You can send your media from iPhone and iPad to the ATV using airplay - works really well. I play the videos I take on my iPhone on the HD tv.

If you can get Netflix access it will work on this box, as will your US iTunes account for any media purchased off there. You can also access YouTube, Vimeo and other net video services. Def worth $99.
