how can uncapped have a cap or did it read this wrong

It only has a peak time cap,its uncapped off peak since their network isnt fully utilised off peak since they mainly have business customers.

Sounds like a great product should take off if it does what it promises @ R275 pm.

Sounds incredibly lame and twisty, nobody's going to go for it.

Agreed - the days of these convoluted products are behind us, but the price of this is quite attractive. It could be the new Uncapped Express. Remember that product? Was amazing back in the day.

Innovative new uncapped ADSL product

Vox Telecom is striking into the gaming ADSL market, including an interesting off-peak uncapped ADSL package.

South Africa truly aims to be confusing, I had a hard time relating our internet to someone in the USA. They were a bit confused by

1) peak time
2) off time
3) 6-6
4) after hours
5) < insert other variants >

Why not... one account for everything ?

You're wrong about that.

Uncapped 10mbps for <R300? Lots of people will go for that. Hell, most are at work anyway during the hours where its capped to 10 gig (which is respectable in itself).

Easily done. Its just with all these gimmicks you can push the price much much lower, which suits me just fine. Right now we can get gimmick free products which cost a fortune and gimmick filled products that are reasonably priced. Choice ftw. As long as the gimmicks are reasonable I don't care.

Obviously, but far from KISS.

Yes, it's cheap, but Afrihost have uncapped 10mbit for R797. So this new deal is about 33% of the price for 50% of the product (only usable half the day) - so while it's a great deal, it's not Earth-shatteringly amazing.

Actually its only Mon-Fri, so its 65% of the product and as I said above, its the 65% of the time which counts.

Sure if you're determined to download while at work too, then the AH deal might be better deal but everybody else is going to take the -66% price reduction and smile.

All depends on the AUP though...

What a lame product.
At Afrihost you can get 50Gb per month for R399 and it runs at 10 Mb if you have line that goes that fast.
Are these guys not aware of what products are available in the market at this point in time.
Do some homework . I used to be with VOX and now with AH.

The R800 option makes sense if you're a hoarder who needs to download the internet all day. You know all those linux ISOs everyone downloads. For those people who are away from home during the day, uncapped at night and during weekends makes perfect sense.

50gigs at 1meg/s (ie 10megabit line) would be used up in approximately 18 hours. The uncapped portion of this product runs Mon-Fri 6pm to 6am and weekends. That would give you a total time (30 day month, 8 days of weekend) of uncapped usage of approximately 450 hours!

As a long time Uncapped Express user (unusable during business hours) I have to say I'd only consider an after-hours product if you absolutely can't afford a full one. After hours only is more than enough to leech yourself silly, but there's nothing worse than your account not working on a day off or when you're sick at home. I quite like this product, I'm just not the target market :)

This product is definitely not for 1MB line users.

Mweb's products also prioritize gaming so if you are a 1MB user it would be more economical to use Mweb's 1MB uncapped package at R199.00

If I am not mistaken @lantic also use VOX for their uncapped promotion for after hours from 18:00 - 06:00.
If the cap management work the same as @lantic's I see a lot of cap issues coming through. Cause @lantic could never figure out what was downloaded before the "Uncapped timeline" and during the "Uncapped timeline".

I would love to see the feedback section in a few weeks regarding this product.

Later!
