I am helping someone look for a new car.

Her price range is at a list price of around 260 000. Coming from a Volvo V40, she's looking at a car that won't feel like a downgrade from that.

Do you guys have any suggestions that I can throw her way to test drive?

Go to a Toyota, Volvo, Audi,VW,BMW,Merc, Opel, Honda etc. Dealer and buy what you like.

BMW 118i, which I think we'll have a look at. The Merc options at that price point really aren't great and Volvo resale value is a big downer.

VW options look good though.

Alfa Guilietta...you can't go wrong. Just test driver it at least.

what kind of car? hatch, sedan, station wagon? does she have kids etc?

True, but I would rather go for something with beautiful looks like the Guilietta, but German craftsmanship :

^^ Them new Opels are nice :) Can't wait for the OPC... Might concider selling my Type R and buying one

It will always be hard to decide between those two because both are exceptional cars that are worlds apart not only from each other but also from the run of the mill mass consumed options. For me the current Civic Type R is the ultimate hot hatch, but personally I don't want a hot hatch so the Astra is a thing of beauty that I really want.

May I redirect you to my thread then, seeing as the Gen 9 Type R hasn't been revealed or officially announced then. :p

I don't know hey. The new look hasn't really done it for me yet.. Still preffer current shape.

Give it time to sink in, or wait for them to be introduced locally. I'm sure you'll be gob-smacked when you see them in the metal. :p

EDIT: I just realized I'm becoming like Roux and his Opels... :o
