Does anybody have an idea when the new cards from ATI and Nvidia are launching this year..?

ATI are aiming for q3 and Nvidia is still an unknown. But they have both finalised the PCB layout. ATI will launch before Nvidia though.

I have a feeling it's gonna be a huge leap - for both companies...

things just got a little too hot after ATI released a very good 4xxx series.

my guess is that nVidia will have the fastest, and ATI will build even more strength by the number of new ATI users, since their cards are gonna be awesome & affordable.

but here's to hoping that ATI have the fastest card AS WELL!

Thats true...makes you wonder whether it worth waiting for....which I think it is.
Both companies will be rushing to release first hence the reasons for Nvidia possibly releasing their DX11 cards this year.

I dunno, I think AMD are aiming at trying to take Nvidia's market share and running with it... my best guess is that both companies are aiming at producing great cards to try and impact Intel's launch. I dunno, but AMD is on a winning design and Nvidia are releasing a new architecture, so I guess the battle in now on :D. You gotta love competition :p. But I really think Intel is giving both companies skid marks as Intel does have more money to fund the gpu development.

I really doubt ATI will be able to match Nvidia's release. This is the first truly new architecture since g80, which was absolutely groundbreaking at the time. ATI are looking at a much shorter run-up which makes me think they aren't going to try and beat nvidia on a clock for clock basis.

Thats true but the difference here is that intel will have proper competition and won't be able to throw their weight around as much :)

Not to mention that both companies have greater experience in this arena.
Larrabee is not the game breaker everyone thinks..

Good, all the existing cards on the market will come down in price.

The main thing though is that I am still keeping my 4850 which serves me proudly and there is no point in my upgrading ... it doesn't mean I won't be jealous though :p

nVidia's GT300 will be launched as a high-end card. Ati will be launching low-end and high-end cards.

Hehe, iam seeing a bargain coming my way again. Any used 4870x2 for 500 bucks?;)

I never buy current tech, always 1 year behind.

if I see another one for R1000 or less i'm quadfiring them!

The question is what is happening with dx 11, no point having a dx11 capable card with nobody using dx 11 :D

I have a dx10.1 card - what extra features do I get with the .1 ?

j/k though

Supposed to better lightning effects and fog if i remember correctly.

But will a dx10 card play a dx11 game ?

Normally dx10 games can run in dx9 as well so Im sure dx11 games will be able to run with your dx10 card....you just won't have all the dx11 features enabled in the game :)
