I am looking at building a new computer for mainly programming, photo editing and gaming.

I am looking at the i7 920 2.66 GHz (want to overclock it to 3.5 - 4 GHz), EVGA X58 SLI LE Motherboard, Coolermaster V10 (for CPU and RAM cooling),OCZ Fatal1ty 550W, OCZ PC3-12800 DDR3 6GB Inteli7 Edition, Coolermaster storm series - SCout Chassis, XFX nVIDIA GTS 250 512Mb, 1Tb Seagate 7200rpm SATA II HDD and LG Lightscribe DVD Drive.

Will the cooling be adequate for overclocking, will the PSU allow 2-way SLI and where would be the cheapest places to look (I know RebelTech and Computesonly). Any suggestions will be helpful. I already have the GTS 250 and SATA II HDD so what prices am i looking at for each.

What's that setup likely going to cost you, if I may ask? Just curious because I'm also looking into upgrading in line with the specs you have there.

sorry, didn't read the whole post. Mah' bad!

PSU

If you are going for a i7, I would really go for a bigger power supply.

I am looking at around R8000 excluding GTS 250 and SATA II HDD ... I Hope still unclear about EVGAX58 SLI LE price

Would 600W be enough or 700W incuding the possibility of SLI ... Extreme PSU Calc suggested a 669W with SLI is this accurate

What are some good well priced 1000W PSU's. Would this be fine OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W

No that different one it that is too expensive the SLI LE is in the lower range of EVGA's X58 Series

I recommend with that large setup that you use a 1KW PSU. (1000 WATT). This is a necessity else you will have hardware damage.

Try calling Matrix Warehouse (http://www.matrixonlineshop.co.za/) they usually help me order parts and have good prices too.

Regards!
Sorry but thats crap advice....A 1000W PSU..Really..? You serious...?
So how will you have "hardware damage" exactly? And what PSUs do matrix warehouse stock?

Why are you so keen on a SLI configuration...? I would much rather buy a single powerful card instead of spending extra on 2 cards as well as a mobo that support SLI which normally costs a bit more as well :)

Ya really --> 1000W PSU is overkilling it. You don't need a 1000W PSU for that setup.

And also stay clear from Matrix. Haven't heard any good feedback from people who dealt with them.

I can really advise on going for a corsair power supply.
I've had no problems with mine at all.
