From TechCentral's live blog of the JHB launch event:

10.53

“As of Friday, we will sell data bundles in the stores. For R50, you get 100MB, for R100 you get 250MB, for R150 you get 500MB, for R250 you get 1GB and for R400 you get 2GB. These are top-up rates on postpaid contracts.”

Not quite as good as the "data only" sims but not bad. If you're going to want to use your phone as a phone and as a modem probably still worth it to get a 2GB/mo sim and use prepaid airtime.

data sim. I need to buy at least 10 of them today, I better go running already see the queue from here :P Every is eagar to Join CELL C Broadband, I thought CELL C would have a better deal on the table and say R200 per gig or so. 2GIGS for R400 still overpriced unless you can use this 2gig over a duration of 12months or so then it is worth it.

You should add the 2gb/5gb data sim things on there as well, just as points I guess...

Well this was disappointing. At least they're finally offering bundles to prepaid subscribers. But still R2 per meg OOB! Disgusting!

Swyped from my HTC Legend

R400 for 2GB is above the price of the others - makes me think this is HOPEFULLY not correct.
Otherwise looking Iike CellC is going to hold hands with the others with their +/- price fixing!

They obviously want to lock people in to contracts...

If they offered the same rates as postpaid then everyone would just get pre paid and dump them as soon as the next lowest offer comes in.

True, its just quite a steep increase.
Best case scenario (most expensive promotion rate to cheapest bundle rate):
168% increase: R149 pm/ 2Gb to R400 / 2Gb

Note: the promotion includes a modem as well

 Vodacom offers a 2.3Gb bundle for R389... Trevor is CLUELESS. When my Cell C bundle is finished I'll use VC until next month. DAFT pricing!

So maybe their prepaid will be a little more competitive.
Glad i chose the 5GB promo option now, topping up ain't looking too friendly.

Why should the prices be different? Data is data, a bundle is a bundle. VC's cost the same

The Pre-paid is ......Should we even ask

This is a dispointment to all pre-paid internet users...

Ok, really confused now:

But in the terms and conditions:

Lol, CellC has clearly dropped the Ball......

/waits for Vodacom to introduce a massive campaign, with a minor, but at least usable "extra something something"
