New Dstv channels not working

Hi

Five of the new Dstv channels of mine are not working. Error code " Dstv signal lost. Do not switch your decoder off. It will re-establish connection".

As per Dstv' s advertising, we don't need to do anything. Sit back and relax and everything will work out.

Well, it's not. Could it be that I live in a complex and the communal dish that needs to be upgraded.

Surely Dstv should have warned us about this...

There was a warning about old complex dishes and not being able to view new channels.

Do DStv customers need to do anything to get the new channel numbers and the new channels?
The changes will happen automatically in the early morning hours of Monday, 1 October. DStv customers are advised to access the information about their specific decoder on DStv.com or press OK on their DStv remote to see if any action is required on their part.
Customers who live in a complex or flat where they don’t have their own dish, will have to request their body corporate to upgrade their system before 1 October 2012. These customers can SMS their email address to DStv at 32444.

They did, the last 2 months already

Im not sure if the dish needs to be upgraded, I stay in a complex with 1 dish shared betweeen 16 units.
Mine is runnning fine and the small dish.

Also if anyone has any idea why i have 2 channel 103's then i would like to know how to get rid of the duplicate.
 
v.j, it is only specific specialised communal setups, that need upgrades. Not all of them. Did you have to add any settings to your decoder before the migration?

No added setting before migration were done

I have the standard decoder.
 
I'm confused about the communal shared dish setup and would like to know what the deal is. In our complex we have communal dishes up so we asked the original installer PT Antennas to quote on an upgrade so as to comply with DSTV's
New signal. They quoted the complex 60k, the trustees decided not to do it. So the signal changed on 1 Oct and it just kept working except for 3 of the new movie channels. Surely the entire system would not need to be upgraded just to recive those 3 channels. Please if anyone could shed some light on this as it seems the installer was trying to rip us off?
 
The quality of the channels probably vary slightly and those 3 movies channel exceed you available bandwidth capabilities. Just a theory.
 
Just wondering if it's just me or is channel 321-mtv gone for everyone else. It's the only channel I use, so when I saw it wasn't there, I thought that was one of the changes

Anyone else been having problems with certain channels saying Connection To The Dstv Signal is lost then after a while it connects.

Happens on channel 120 and a few others like 107

You do know the channels moved right? mtv is now on 130.

Did you have to enter additional settings on your decoder before? If yes, there is more than that missing now and there will be even more channels missing in the future. You will need the upgrade. R60k is excessive though... should be less than half of that, unless they are running multiple head-ends.

Thanks for the reply! I did have to enter the extra settings. I can only find 4 channels missing. I heard that if you had a newer communal dish installation that you might not have to upgrade. Could it not be a case of just entering new extra settings? Could you recommend someone in Pretoria our complex could consult on this? I don't know what a multiple head thread is?

Thought it was only us. 120 was working fine before the new channels came.

Most of the new channels don't work anyway.

I just use the P+ and P- buttons.
I could have sworn it was 321 I had on while on the treadmill, but 130 only has these irritating teen series :(
