New DStv streaming package deal

I also like a mix.
Apparently many Blacks like US content a lot, we heard that in the company of top DStv managers on their forum. But they also like things like the local & Nigerian African Magic channels, and soapies, which are odd to others.
Sooner people realise that they aren't the demographic, the better

Different strokes for different blokes - not that I know why

That is DSTV's conundrum, they are failing to address. Living in the past, is killing them faster than anything else.
They went as far as getting rid of many managers that aren't Black (Indian peeps as well I heard).

That is not their issue - the issue is the shall we call it the new demographic, also wants to watch sport, but DSTV is failing to address their wants.

DSTV wants to fight piracy, but if they don't address that issue they are farting against thunder. That is their reality. So either they find a solution to balance the situation or implode themselves out of existence.

Not to defend MC but their contracts had very non-restrictive cancellation terms in the past. I am not sure about the latest one, but e.g. if you had a 12 month contract and you cancelled early , they would take only 1 extra month's subs.

12 months is 12 months, pay for 12 months ...

The ultimate sin is, that from the early decoder days till now there has been no improvement of note, and nothing learned, and thus no progress of any significance made.
The business model worked at the time. They just can't figure out why it doesn't anymore, must be 🏴‍☠️. /s

Piracy is the least of their problems, bring stuck, keeping time in the early 90's is their problem. The world, the market have evolved and moved on. DSTV did not keep up.

We are the defacto monopoly - we hold all the cards, turns out they lost a few, and those they where hold depreciated - in their hands.

To play catch up, is going to cost them a 1000 times more now, than if they had kept pace, with changing trends, technology and developments.

So basically - they screwed themselves, big time. Turns out, they are not big enough, good enough or brave enough to ride out the new wave - so they are going to crash and burn when the wave hits the beach.

Exactly! But it is easier just to blame 🏴‍☠️
