New DStv streaming package deal

But what if the sport you watch isn't part of the big 5? Oh right you don't care, it's all about screwing over DSTV
A good set of packages would cover most options, competition should take care of the rest.

In South Africa? What competition? There isn't enough of a buyers base for competition and those that did try realised that it's actually really cut throat.

It's coming, I assure you.. read more of these threads.

Lupus seems to be thinking of the likes of Top TV as having been competitors. Never were, and not even close to what's coming when Multichoice are left with little choice.

StarSat, Kwesa

StarSat, Kwesa

Cannot remember StarSat - but Kwesa was doomed, before they launched, launching on a obsolete box, 2 generations old, then customizing it to hell and gone. They where dead on arrival. Never ever got the content they expected to secure. That and the platform they launched with doomed them to failure, before they launched. I was actually surprised by how long they lasted.

That's the Top TV I mentioned, changed their name. Chinese run, mickey-mouse channels mostly.

DStv are going to be forced to split up their sports due to endlessly fast climbing cost of living here, and government are genuinely on their back now. Funny thing is they'll get more out of it, eventually.

Buyers' base - still millions of them, let's see what they do when there's an actual choice.

Like I said, big games are live on SABC+ for free, so paying DSTV R699 for the same thing (in poor quality too) makes very little sense.

Why they don't have a sports only streaming package for for, hmm, R200 or so per month seems absolutely insane to me.

Ah well, at least F1TV exists and is awesome 😎
Because they only have sports as anything special, and they'd rather milk their existing, shrinking client base than to truly improve their offering and attract some customers.

They got it in their heads that local-is-leka is the way to survive, blew most of their budget on that. I mean some of their productions are good, but that can't replace an international entertainment service, most still want US productions.

I also like a mix.
Apparently many Blacks like US content a lot, we heard that in the company of top DStv managers on their forum. But they also like things like the local & Nigerian African Magic channels, and soapies, which are odd to others.
