New DSTV UEC HD PVR release pushed back

"Big Brother Interactive Service"

The BB Africa one? Does anyone actually watch it?

Also what is the point of the new UEC PVR if it has the same storage as the current one?

I'd rather watch my dog lick it's own butt...

No if only DSTV would allow me to choose which channels I want to watch and charge me only for those then I may consider reinstating the subscription

Yes, BB Africa - and no, I doubt anyone watches it...

From what I understand, this UEC PVR has the same software on it as the current HD PVR. I'm not sure that there will be any difference in functionality or performance.

At present, it is extremely difficult to FF, REW, Pause and un-Pause - so I'm hoping that the new software they release (that will be the 4th major software release since it launched - just over 1 year ago!) will sort that out.

More interested in the dual tuner R2,000 version that is scheduled for Q1/Q2 2010 release and only then when the 3 new HD channels are live.

We considering the absolutely crap software that MC loads on these decoders, I'll be testing some more too.

Not even the software on the UEC DSD 1110 works properly. Audio/Video cutoffs, Audio/Video sync issues, etc

How about a LAN port or enabling that USB port so one can actually move recorded items off the PVR onto your PC or an external drive?

I've heard from a credible source that the new decoders will no longer have an LED/LCD display. So you will have to utilize your remote and TV to determine where you are in the bouquet. MC is trying to cut costs as the decoders are costing them more than what they are selling it for.....Sorry for them:p

Besides the above, only difference will be a slight software and interface change.....but as usual nothing.

We need competition in the pay tv market, MC is beginning to show more cwap everday just like BB

MC is a revolting monopoly that abuses its customers as paying beta testers. I can't believe this isn't illegal.

apparently thats what telkom media, e and walking on something gave us: competition. exciting, isnt it

blah............dstv............must die.............or atleast wont see my money anytime soon, actually want to thank the okes at multichoice for raising theyre tarrifs and pushing me to the point of quitiing the service, allowed me to discover just how much more fun it is watching rugby/formula one at the local pub.
And apart from theyre sports channels there really is nothing worth watching on it in anycase.

Slight software and interface change?

How do you figure that when we've been told many times from MC themselves that the two decoders will run exactly the same software.
