New DSTV UEC HD PVR release pushed back

A little birdy told me that the new HD PVR has a working usb 2.0 port for your external drive. Also you don't need a quad lnb.

i can find out more if anyone wants to know

missing something ?

Maybe i'm missing something here. But the only way to currently have a true dual-view service with a HD PVR is to either make use of the DSD 1110 + HDPVR/or Old PVR + HDPVR or HDPVR+HDPVR. which makes for an awful lot of cables and bother. With the new one, you won't need all the extra stuff... except the daul lnb and the switch.. but maybe i am wrong... I just wish Multi-choice would sort their HD channel out and fix the damn lip synch out once and for all !! But the usb function would be a bonus of they allow you to
"store" the recorded content....

I've heard from a credible source that the new decoders will no longer have an LED/LCD display

Just a guess on this, but it'll likely be some sub-design of the following 2 decoders, in which case the dual tuner will not have a led display...

incidentally, the SatCR option (which is on the current HDPVR) means you could run only a single cable from the LNB to the decoder, the decoder takes care of telling the LNB which streams to overlay to which frequency block on the wire.

No, there wont be any single dual view decoder. The Pace & UEC will be watch 1 + record 2. Next years cheaper model will be watch 1, record 1
Xtraview is the only solution for multi-viewing except by using the SDPVR or old dual-view decoder

Please find out more about the new HD PVR. Multichoice is acting so suspect about the newer Altech/UEC PVR and I dont want to waste over 3 grand now if the Altech/UEC one is better.

Multichoice, which is currently the only pay-TV service operating in South Africa, believes that it offers a competitive high definition service which is continually being updated.

Well said, I recon they are the only ones who believes that, lol

At present, it is extremely difficult to FF, REW, Pause and un-Pause - so I'm hoping that the new software they release (that will be the 4th major software release since it launched - just over 1 year ago!) will sort that out.

I have tried the FF, REW and Pause on 3 seperate HD PVR's and on none of them does it actually work. During the bulls vs sharks game it took me nearly 4 minutes to go 30 seconds back just to see something again. On my SD PVR, it's a quick thing to do!

EPIC FAIL.

Watched the Emmy's in HD last night - what an excellent showcase for the tech...
Multichoice is listening to us, and they will fix the trickmode button issues.
Just hang in there everyone...

Hi There, Just a newbie question.
Is it possible to buy a decoder from overseas and use it to pick up MC ?

Is there any word on whether the new Decoder will actually support Audio and Video through the HDMI cable?

In my opinion this is the simplest of requirements, seen as it's supposed to be an HD Decoder?

They seriously need to get a dual view HD PVR out soon, recording 2 channels while watching one is fine, but when they phase out the mnet decoder soon and incorperate it into DSTV Im not going to be happy!

Not going to happen, Xtraview is Multichoices future plans for dual view

I've heard from a credible source that the new decoders will no longer have an LED/LCD display. So you will have to utilize your remote and TV to determine where you are in the bouquet.

I also heard with the new UEC HD PVR you will not be able to operate the decoder without the remote - is this true? The decoder has a quad tuner - does this means you will be able to watch 4 channels on 4 different TVs?

As far as i`m concerned M/Choice has gone backed, i`m and installer not accredited(dont want to be) but there Daul PVR was and still is the best. They should of taken that and improved it to support HD but then look what runs the company

I can't say I have got one of these, but when I've had the luxury to use one I was always impressed by the capabilities. I am currently living with an old Decoder and REALLY want PVR as that is the way of the future :D

Anyone know where I can source the old Dual-view PVR decoder?
I was told that HD-PVR is the only one now available.

Perhaps you could translate your post to English so that the rest of us can understand it.

BTW, welcome to the site

No, quad tuner means 1 x viewing, 2 x recording, 1 x data (TV guide etc)
The current HDPVR is a quad tuner
