New DSTV UEC HD PVR release pushed back

Slight software and interface change?

How do you figure that when we've been told many times from MC themselves that the two decoders will run exactly the same software.

OpenTV is one of the key pieces of software found on both boxes,
but as we all know, something is only as good as the platform you put it on.

Pace and UEC have three very different things forming their platforms,
from what I hear.
Different chipsets resulting in Pace and UEC also using different OS's
and you can only guess that the drivers each Co writes,
which make the box tick will be completely different, and hence show a variance in performance.

At the end of the day it will come down to performance.

Ummm. OpenTV is the middle ware...

which MC has written its software on top of, and the software on the PACE decoder and the UEC decoder (at least from multichoice) will be identical... it makes NO sense for a company to spend all this time developing a piece of software for one decoder only to throw it all away when they bring out a new version.

The UEC box has a SLIGHTLY faster processor, but the PACE box with a decent piece of software on it is no slouch at all... its only multichoices crap that makes it perform like crap...

At the end of the day it will come down to what decoder is available in the retail channel, nothing more and nothing less.

Watched the Emmy's in HD last night - what an excellent showcase for the tech...
Multichoice is listening to us, and they will fix the trickmode button issues.
Just hang in there everyone...

I'm hanging in there ...

How many months?

I'm sticking with my current sdpvr until the thing works properly. Just hope MC gets their act together before the FIFA 2010 soccer!

All I need is a dual-view + 1 record with all the buttons working properly. Only one view channel needs to be HD. Is that too much to ask?!

As far as i`m concerned M/Choice has gone backed, i`m and installer not accredited(dont want to be) but there Daul PVR was and still is the best. They should of taken that and improved it to support HD but then look what runs the company

What runs the company?
