If they increase the fuel price for Gauteng by 1c / liter it can cover the cost, or not?
 
If the current high prices don't make sense relative to the cost of collection, how does the same collection make sense with a low (for now) price?

No means No.
 
Regardless of the amount collected, the shortfall will have to be funded by the government ie. you and me via taxes, levies, etc.

Nope. Still not paying. Eff off.

First, bring in alternative, cheap and reliable public transport.
Second, enatis issues need to be sorted out.
Thirdly, sanral need to get their money back from the contractors who overcharged on construction costs.
Fourthly, do proper public consultations first.

Until then, nyet.

What about the minibus taxis? When will they be forced to pay?

Keep dreaming. As soon as you comply, they'll up the rates.
 
This is how much I am willing to pay:

This is just a ploy to get people into compliance. Once the majority pays it will be easy to "convince" people to pay. Then let's increase it by 1c. Oh that's not too bad I'll keep on paying. Oh another 2c isn't so bad. Pretty soon it costs more than it currently does and everybody is paying because you've create a culture of compliance.

The only action I support is
1. Scrap the tolls.
2. Declare the contracts that were signed illegally and without public participation void.
3. Retrieve the money that was stolen.
 
There was an incentive launched to hand out etags to taxis so that they could use etolls without any charges, but very little (almost none at all) taxis had these speshul etags.

What happened to the rest? I have my suspicions.
 
10c today. Next month it will be 20c. By year-end, it will be 150c :rolleyes:
 
Collection cost are part of the problem.
What do ETC (Austrian) charge per photo.
Probably more that R10 per transaction, regardless if it gets collected.

They already did this multiple times. Feul levies go into the general fucus and pay for child grants.
 
Just scrap e-tolls and increase the licence fees in Gauteng.

Yes, it would. Big time.

The problem with our exceptionally talented government is they cannot ring-fence this sort of levy. They will collect it and it will be lost into the ether - that or their collective back pocket.
