Ford mini SUV, built on the Fiesta platform, announced today. Looks like it might be coming to SA to compete with Juke and SX4... What do you think?

Don't know. Announced today. Most of the articles just talk about the smallest, which is a frugal 88kW 1.0L turbo.

Looks nice..... But are those pictures the concept or the actual production version?

Yeah those last pictures look like production type stuff... even though i've seen a few less "radical" ones on google..

but those first pictures look like renders to me.

They are renders. I just didn't think the launch photos look very good. It will be at the Dehli Auto Expo, so hopefully some more pictures will hit the net soon. I need to see it in white and silver.

Under the hood is Ford's smallest ever EcoBoost engine, which the car maker is introducing in India for the first time. The 1-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine will offer the power and performance of a traditional 1.6-litre petrol engine though, with far more fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions under 140 g/km. The turbocharged mill will put out 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. Ford may launch a 1.5-litre diesel spec, the same one that powers the Fiesta, in future.
.

It's a lot smaller than the Sportage though.

My 1-series measures in at 4.2m or something... the EcoSport is 3.9m iirc, and 1785mm in width. That's going for midget territory.

The 1.0 sounds puny.
The 1.5 petrol and diesel is ok, but it's more of a little city car that can drive through puddles.

Mate of mine is in the process of buying one. He is very impressed with it. He is by no means a small fella, and he didn't complain about room. He did mention that he wouldn't want to spend extended period in it, i.e. drive down to Cape Town, but for an everyday runner this is perfect, plenty of power if you go for the diesel, and most of all, the price is right.
