New Ford EcoSport

My mom placed her order for one end of last week... Dealer confirmed delivery end of November...? Really, for a ford? Might as well by a Merc or BM for that waiting time...

There is no stock in the country besides the base model but even those are rare, girlfriend is trying to buy one but can't get a date for delivery as there is a worldwide shortage of them.
 
Yes, I remember the dealer she ordered from first said 1st week November, but later said end of November... Then, another dealer she contacted said she'll only get the car next year... But he wasn't hungry for the sale as he sort of brushed us aside, and gave the impression that he didn't want our business... Tosser
 
Drove one when I was getting the wife a car and must say I was impressed! Very nippy little cars.

Did a quick test drive today. It is a winner for Ford. 1.0l is a mini beast of an engine. boot is small in length and width, but really deep. Also. The back seats can fold up completely providing the same depth. Steering reacts between a hatch and a bakkie. The dashboard is huge, but I suspect it is due to the engine

It is a high rev car. I could get to 120km/h in 3rd ear at 6000rpm without a problem.
 
i hate how the ads keep pronouncing it as echo sport instead of eco sport...makes me cringe evrytime
 
i thought it is derived from the ecoboost engine...therefore ecosport...because it is economica. the whole echo thing makes no sense

Has anybody tried to actually buy one of these lately? The waiting list on these cars are something terrible. I have phoned 6 different dealers in the Western Cape and they all tell me the next 2 shipments they are getting have already been sold. I have also been told that I can put my name on a list, but they cannot guarantee me when I will get the car or even if I will be able to get the car in the colour I want. :erm:

Ordered in Beginning December. Delivery in March.

Seems the demand is higher than expected and they can't keep up. Waiting list can be up to 8 months in India.
 
My mom order hers last year September, only getting her's today...

I believe it's the price that's pulling in the numbers, at under 300k for top of the range, it's cheap....
 
Nope. R250000 for a fiesta on stilts. ;) And you get all the bells and whistles and a good engine.

So... why not just take the Fiesta then? I might be missing something but if the height is the only difference (and no spacial difference inside) I'd take the Fiesta at a higher spec level for the same price. I haven't been inside an Ecosport, but the Fiesta seemed decent enough on the inside, nicer than the Focus at least in terms of plastic and viewing angles.

I'm incredibly methodological in buying vehicles. I set requirements, price range and future usage. Interior is not that important to me, except that the seats need to be comfortable. The EcoSport fits the criteria close enough. So I'm buying it.

And you aren't missing anything. Your view and requirements differ from
mine.
