New Iburst Acc Type

Hi all.

They are busy with their new Product release coming soon and everything else has gone onto the backburner till the end of next week.

Sorry. This new product is taking the higlight right now.

No....I am not going to say what it is. Marketing and Product are very busy with the release plans.

Lets wait for the normal channel.

Thanks

From this "Hint", I expect something new/great on the 1st August 2009...;)

Until then, let's all have patience...

Received a call last week from the Iburst sales team wrt renewing my contract as the 24 month period is up. The options were renew and receive a free desktop modem(1mbps- I already have one) or Visa gift card preloaded with R1500 (rather give me free bandwidth). My response to sales rep was that I did not renew due to the Seacomm hype but mainly a possible 2mbps service offering from Iburst (Jannie let slip).Which will require new hardware.
So Iburst why not offer a voucher for 2mbps modem (redeemable when it becomes available), I would have renewed immediately.
Also give your sales staff some info on whats happening in the broadband ISP environment.

I would have renewed immediately.

It's a good thing you didn't. Wait until you get a better modem/prices/bandwidth.

If iBurst doesn't come up with an attractive option soon, then go ADSL.

axxess 6gig semi shaped for round about the same price as 3gig iburst(line rental included)looks good to me

true, but remember that it will take approx 18-24 months for the reduced international bandwidth prices from Seacomm to really have an affect on us home users wrt international comparable caps and prices. Most ISP's are locked in 5yr contracts on Sat3 bandwidth prices.

I pay R199 and DL approx 10 to 12 gigs per month while on the 64k throttle...

well if downloading is your thing, sure iburst is cool with its really slow throttled speed.

for everything else, not so quite.

Two ideas, one stolen and the other one mine!
Stolen: Why tender just for one OS updates, make updates available for Mac OS and UBUNTU/Linux. Just as that oke who won the price asked for windows updates!

Mine: If i get a error when i connect I must give the error number to the call center person. Why not make a nice .pdf file which gives u all the possible error numbers and solutions for it, as well as some extra tips and solutions for problems that may come up during our iburst experience.
This would lead to fewer call center calls, making their work easier, which will help them to focus on more important stuff that couldn't be fixed with the .pdf file thingy

What do u guys think?

The Windows OS updates was one of my ideas, or shall I say maybe I was one of the contributors who suggested it. :)

I did not think the Ubuntu/Linux OS's were that heavy on updates (like Windows needing 3 per week) hence I did not include them in the suggestion.

I am very much looking forward to tomorrow/next week, to see the fruits of our labour...

Good suggestion. In general, from restaurants to websites, I find that there is not enough information (in our information age) upfront. Web browsers now how and where to look if it's not well-hidden, and generally I want information on everything from the start, so I can make decisions.

A help file in error reporting is a good idea. Give Devviem 6 Gigs.

I'll write and edit the document, but my rates for iBurst will be particularly high in this instance.:p

Hey Shaun, when we gonna get some info on the new packages. Checked the website and no change. Not whining just want a date

Hi guys.

Sorry guys, I will not provide a date. But this month will introduce something new. Jannie and Marketing will do the release and on the same day it will hit the forums.

Thanks.

>< LOL thanks Rustum

Hi guys.

The call centre already has a small application that assists them with error codes. I have been pressing the Product guys to get this onto the driver disks.

Check out the screen shot.

Please remember to mail these ideas onto [email protected] so that they may enjoy the attention of Product Development.

Thanks for the ideas.

However, instead of wireless broadband gaining further traction, it fell back for the first time. “All forms of wireless broadband combined, including 3G, iBurst, WiMAX and municipal WiFi, dipped from 10.5% to 8% penetration as a primary form of Internet connectivity among SMEs,” says Goldstuck.

It also demonstrates the need for reasonably priced services. “ADSL simply offers more reliable and cost-effective broadband than any wireless option – and the cost of incremental usage is not as high as for 3G,” explains Goldstuck.

The findings show a clear reversal of wireless broadband growth as a primary form of Internet connectivity. That, says Goldstuck, is an indication that wireless broadband is not meeting the needs of the SMEs to the extent that ADSL does from both a cost and performance perspective.
