New iMac in SA in a few weeks

These things are just so pretty, can we take up a collection so I can have one ;-)
There are nice indeed. If someone is doing a collection can I please put in an order for a 24’’ ?

I wish Core would pull their finger out of the proverbial, its a bit of a joke that they claim that its going to take months to get the new iWork and iLife out here.
Granted the hardware takes a while to ship, but it shouldn't take them more than a week to get software on the shelves. I don't understand why they don't have pre-orders for Leopard setup yet either. Their planning really sucks. I can't wait for Apple to setup an official presence in SA again.

I'm guessing then that they used to? What happened?

IIRC Apple had a small SA division that they spun off into Core in the mid 90's when they closed up shop. I think that the Apple Store in the waterfront in Cape Town was run by Apple?

Are those R prices genuine SA prices? We get ripped off for Mac in this country.

Apart from the upgrade, Apple has also announced a price cut on their iMacs. The 20-inch iMac now starts at just $1,199 – or R 8,443 - $300 less than the previous 20-inch model. The 24-inch iMac starts at just $1,799 – or R 12,669 - $200 less than the previous 24-inch model.

If that's the American price, add about R3000-R4000 more for hte local price.

Nope, unfortunately EVERYTHING apple comes from Core, even the iPods. :(

Blerry useless bunch

Let's say it together...ready?

"We love SA monopolistic business practices!"

Feel better now? Proudly SA.

Uh, uh, that store is one of the newest. I remember the opening.
Apple used to have a shop in the Link in Claremont (CPT). It was called Blue Ridge Computers. It sold Apple IIs and later, Macs. Game also sold Apples in those days, but Apple didn't like that. There was also a shop and service centre in Long St. I believe.

In the mid-90's the store was near the red shed at the entrance closest to Ferryman's. I don't know when the "new" store opened.
