New Improved Hellkom site

Nice MaD!

Error on the Linux-SA hosting prices: Hetzner MicroPro account has a setup fee, only there was a special in January, namely getting the setup for free! ;)

Damn special offers :) thanks, will change now..

Looks like it may be time for a new ADSL price comparison too. Will write that down on the list.

The site shifted 520MB on its first day of newness.. this month should prove interesting where traffic is concerned.. please excuse me while I go sleep - and thank my lucky stars the site is hosted abroad! :)

Ugh, I despise the auto-refresh shaaite. I dunno, it just makes my browser feel, abused... Cheap... Besides which it's eating bytes that I don't have control over. I would seriously consider a "Teklom CAP-Friendly" ad rotation.

:)

Is the *entire* page refreshing, or just the ads? What browser are you using? Wait.. it must be Firefox :D

Regardless of the browser I'm using. The auto-refresh sucks. And besides. Firefox is just about the most popular browser (for nerds) right now.

I don't like refreshes. Period. Is there a specific reason for the refreshes ? If you need ads rotating, have them swop whenever *I* refresh. Not when you decide to.

I dislike my browser (Firefox, or IE) doing stuff I didn't ask a site to do. The point is that I can have Hellkom.co.za open in a tab, and it will happily EAT AWAY AT MY PRECIOUS MEGABYTES. Without me having approved it to do that. WTF will happen if I accidentally leave it open in my browser for a fortnight? Yeah. I'll get capped China.

C'mon dude. You know it's not right.

Know it's not right? lol.. I doubt anyone will accidentally leave it open in their browser for a fortnight. What cap do you have, 1GB? One can easily disable meta refreshes.. anyway it only refreshes every 14 seconds and the page size is a fraction of what any of the normal pages on the site are.

I would never make an *entire* page refresh, it would be stupid

The rotator page is in an iframe and is a total of 4KB - it uses in 15 seconds what VoIP uses in less than 1.

But I suppose now everyone is going to start doing sums and work out 'what if i left my browser open for five years'. Sigh.

Well... you have to admit we're getting better at sums! :D

I actually wouldn't be surprised if someone did that, stranger posts have been made on this forum :D

it works out to 24685.71K per day... ;)
or 723.21 MB per month

:D

45,050,125MB over 5 years. Or 45GB. There. :D

45GB over 5 years =/ wow

Anyways, MaD, your SMS section has incorrect data, or missing information. It says that the bundles are for contracts only...

MTN Offer prepaid and Data Bundles. Very cheap options actually
100, 200, 500 and 1000 as I recall.

Site looks good Mad.
Well done on all the hard work.

Well I hope the SNO changes that situation in South Arica.
I hear they have plenty of bandwidth so local hosting prices should start falling.

The ISP's in South Africa have had good exposure because of Hellkom

Idea: MaD, since you're advertising for them, maybe they can pay you? Then you can host locally! :p

I have suggested this to Mad personally.
Look at all the hard work he has done for nothing over the last couple of years.
Not to mention the Court Case as well.

It is about time his Hellkomship came in I think. ;)

Ship? Well, maybe with all the rain lately it will work... but, no, it won't! :(

Should change the saying to a localized version: change ship to airship! Then it might happen! ;)
