New iPhone or HTC Touch Pro?

do any of you guys dissing the iphone actually have an iphone??

Never; not a chance,; no way.

I sang the same tune when they were first announced, "WTF - no copy and paste!"
Actually that still grates me :-p but despite that and despite the fact that I am not an Apple fanboy it is the best handset I have ever used hands down.

The naysayers in this thread will change their iTune too once they see one in action and get their paws on one.

I have had i-Mate (HTC); Nokia; ...not gonna list em all, just abut everything except Sagem and Siemens.

HTC look tight!

Also that keyboard will be so helpful in sending text msg or emails!

I'm definitely interested in the HTC Touch PRo... I've played with a friend's iPhone and it's very lovely, but i prefer the HTC....

Now, just hope they're affordable by the time I'm due for an upgrade.... :-D

either the diamond or xperia for business or the iphone for other.

I want either the Xperia or the Touch pro, just my luck they only release end of the year and i am due for an upgrade now! :(

My contract ends this month but depending on your service provider you could continue on a month to month base and only need to give one month notice. This is what I'm do.

It talk to a person at iTalk and they said they expect the experia and the touch pro to come in a month or two. Also the expect the price on the experia to be R6500+.
Some people expect the touch pro to be cheaper than the diamond because it does not have the 4GB memory.

I'm willing to waiting till the close to the end of the year so I hope the phones come when expected and the reviews follow very soon.

I've done quite a bit of research so I thought I'd share some of my findings and feelings...

I work for a technology/software development company in Pretoria. We got 3 iPhone 3Gs at work a couple of weeks ago and...It's very nice...It's user friendly...It's a gadget...But it gets boring very quickly. No video calling...no video recording...no mms...can't use the iStore in SA...one of the devices seemed to lag a little...so doing what we do, we hacked one allowing us to put some applications on it giving it a little bit more potential. After having it for so long, I still won't buy one. It's way too expensive. How often do you use your iPod? Worst part of all was that you need to DOWNLOAD the latest iTunes before you can power on the iPhone for the first time! And today, we discovered that we can't dial any more...luckily most important phone numbers are in the phone book, but the phone app seems to hang and returns us to the home screen. iPhone becomes iPod...this is probably related to the hacking, but without unlocking it, it get's pretty boring pretty fast.

Now for the HTC Touch Pro. I've been a fan of HTC's since the TyTn II came out. Back then I didn't have the cash to afford one and now that I do, the Touch Pro is brand new and looks beautiful! Taking a step back...a colleague got the Touch Diamond about a month ago and it's nice. It does everything you expect it to. The TouchFlo3D works like a charm and it's just as much fun as the iPhone, without becoming boring after 30 minutes. Being a Windows Mobile device there's alot you can chop and change/customize with a few easy to install apps without the need to install custom/hacked firmware. The only thing that's missing is the slide out keyboard like the TyTn II. Thanks for the Touch Pro! Just as sexy and sleek as the Diamond, with more RAM and ROM providing an even smoother TouchFlo3D experience. Expandable memory slot -do I hear 8/16GB memory cards? (4GB is so last year)...Pocket Office...and the list goes on...

a windows mobile device will always be more feature rich than an iPhone. it all depends on what you want. a simple device that oohs you for a while, then just becomes a phone, or a device that you can expand and use for many different tasks, personal/business?

Touch Pro R8800 from Leaf.co.za
iPhone 8GB R6300 / 16GB R7100 from Vodacom

I've been saving for the Touch Pro and I'm getting mine at the end of next month at about R5700 pay in on a TopUp 200 contract from Vodacom.

Man I love my Touch Diamond. What's more even the narrow on-screen qwerty keyboard is becoming easier and easier. I didn't go for the Pro because I wanted a lightweight phone after the TyTN.

I am in the IT sector, and needed to replace a Nokia E90 that could not do what I needed, so I spent about 2 weeks, driving Apple and Leaf crazy with questions and tests.

Nett of the tests, the iPhone in my opinion has the niftier user interface, Flo3D will probably better with Windows Mobile 7.0 early next year.
However the iPhone does not yet have the full functionality of even a fairly low end phone (I forward SMS's for example), so it was the TouchPro that won. On both phones I would want a normal numeric keypad as the touch only interface that drove me crazy on an iPaq is really not practical if you are a heavy user and need to make / recieive a lot of calls quickly.
